Why did my account get suspended
If we no longer have any information about your enrollment or your employment contract, you are therefore no longer authorized to use Microsoft 365 with the products it contains. Microsoft offers a grace period of 30 days during which the account can be reactivated. It is also possible that you have manually deactivated your account after logging in. To solve this problem, open any Office program. Click on your user name in the top right-hand corner, select Sign in and log in again with your account details.
What happens if I exmatriculate or my contract ends?
The Microsoft 365 licence gets revoked if you exmatriculate or the contract ends.
Your Microsoft 365 account gets deleted after 30 days.
What happens if I disable Microsoft 365 on my device?
If you deactivate the Office products on a device via the Microsoft 365 portal, you will be prompted to register again the next time you start the application, otherwise the products can only be used to a limited extent, i.e. the documents will only be executed in read-only mode. You can deactivate the products here:
Can I use my Microsoft 365-licence for private purposes?
No. The software and services are to be used exclusively for study-related or official purposes. Use for commercial or private purposes is not provided for in the license terms. Only personal, non-transferable licenses are provided. Users are also only entitled to use the software and services during the licensed period.
However, the so-called "Microsoft Workplace Discount Program" (formerly Home Use Program) gives you the opportunity to receive discounted prices for selected Microsoft 365 subscriptions as well as Surface devices and accessories.
The installation and use of Microsoft 365 is not permitted on private end devices (e.g. PC, Mac, smartphone or tablet).
What do I need to bear in mind if I am using a centrally administered system (ZDM system)?
If you would like to continue using Microsoft Office, you must register via our Campus Weimar software portal for licensing reasons. Once this has been done, you can use the installed Microsoft Office 2019 on your ZDM system as usual.
If you no longer wish to use Microsoft Office, the SCC will provide you with the office software LibreOffice on your ZDM system.
What do I have to consider if I don't have a ZDM system in use and want to use Microsoft 365?

Registration via our Campus Weimar software portal is required for licensing reasons. Once this has been done, you can download the Microsoft 365 Office software.
To uninstall Microsoft 365 under Windows, go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
What do I have to consider if I have already used Microsoft 365 and want to continue using it?
If you were using the old solution “Microsoft Office 365 A1 Plus”, you received an e-mail from the SCC on 01.07.2024 with the product discontinuation as of 01.08.2024.
You must register via our Campus Weimar software portal. You must manually transfer your old data, which you have edited with the following e-mail address, to the new Microsoft 365 instance.
E-mail address: <first name>.<last name>.BUW@TechnischeUnivers049.onmicrosoft.com
What problems can occur when switching from the old M365 client (@TechnischeUnivers049.onmicrosoft.com) to the new M365 client (@uni-weimar.de)?
General
If the following error message appears: “User account ‘E-mail address’ from identiti provider [...] does not exist in tenant ‘Technische Universität Ilmenau’ and cannot access the application[...]”, you can try the following solution:
Enter 123@uni-weimar.de as the login name and wait for the message that this account does not exist. This will initialize a connection to our new Microsoft Tenant. You should then be able to log in with your new account.
Windows
First, you should log out of Microsoft Office if you are still logged in with the account from the old client (@TechnischeUnivers049.onmicrosoft.com). To do this, click on the circle next to the “Minimize, Maximize and Close” functions in Microsoft 365 Word, for example, and click on Sign out. (Image 1)
Under Windows, you should also check whether the business account of the old client still exists under “Windows settings” -> “Accounts” -> “Access work or school account” and remove it (Fig. 2) before you log in to the Microsoft 365 apps (Office) with the M365 account from the new client (@uni-weimar.de).
You should also delete the Office login cache by closing all Office programs. Navigate to the folder %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneAuth\accounts, there should be several files with a GUID. Open these one after the other and check whether the old user account is still stored there. If so, delete this file. Alternatively, you can also delete the contents of the “accounts” folder completely.
Delete the folders under the path %localappdata%/Microsoft/IdentityCache. As a rule, there should be a folder with the name “1” there. This is what is meant by the deletion.
If problems persist, you can try the following tips from Microsoft:
a) Uninstalling Office on a PC

b) Use Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant

If signing in with the new account still does not work, you can try to uninstall the Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise or Office 365 (depending on the existing version) and install the Office installation package from the new mandate. To do this, log in to office.com with your ...@uni-weimar.de e-mail address, download the Office apps and install them (Fig. 3).
macOS
1. Sign out from Office application
Start all Office applications installed on your Mac, click on the name of the application in the menu (e.g. Word) and select “Sign out”. Then close the application.
2. Delete folder
In the Finder, click on “Go to” and then “Go to folder”.
Enter ~/Library in the field. Click on the Group Containers folder
Locate the following three files/folders and drag them to the trash:
UBF8T346G9.ms
UBF8T346G9.Office
UBF8T346G9.OfficeOsfWebHost
Empty the recycle bin and start an Office application to check whether you can now edit the documents.
If problems persist, you can:
a) Try the Microsoft License Removal Tool:
b) Uninstall and reinstall Microsoft 365.
