The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is committed to ensuring that its website, www.uni-weimar.de, is accessible in accordance with national legislation implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
This accessibility statement applies to the website www.uni-weimar.de, but not to project websites or pages belonging to individual chairs that are not hosted within the University’s Typo3 environment.
This website is partially compliant with Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0. The assessment of linked documents and alternative text has not yet been included.
Preparation of this Accessibility Statement
This statement was updated on 4 December 2025.
This accessibility statement has been drawn up on the basis of third-party assessments carried out in the form of the WCAG test and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
Current website
Remaining shortcomings
- Alternative text is missing for some images and links
- Subtitles for videos are missing in some cases
- Some linked documents are not yet accessible; accessible documents are marked as ‘accessible’
Measures to ensure accessibility
We are working to make our current website accessible. The following areas are currently being addressed:
Staff training
Training courses are being offered to raise awareness amongst editors about creating accessible content. This means they will learn how to create alternative text for images and links, how to structure text, and what to bear in mind regarding colour contrast.
Subtitles for videos
Subtitles have been created and checked for around 150 videos on the University’s central Vimeo channel. We are still looking for a way to display subtitles for Reels on the new website.
There are other video channels run by academic departments or projects, and those responsible for them are being advised to create subtitles.
Use of sign language
At the end of 2025, the video about the Student Advisory Service’s support services was subtitled in German Sign Language and International Sign Language. Further videos will follow.
Accessible documents
Since 2018, study regulations, examination regulations, habilitation regulations and rules of procedure, as well as other agreements published via the University’s announcements and serving a legal purpose, have been produced in an accessible format. Further documents will follow.
Plain language
You can find information about the university in plain language on this page.
Given the university’s target audience, we have decided not to provide further content in plain language. This applies in particular to information from faculties, chairs and other central departments.
Feedback and contact details
