The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar maintains close ties to three associated institutes, which form the connecting link between the theoretical and practical application, and foster close relations to the university’s departmental researchers.

Bauhaus Further Education Academy Weimar (WBA)

The WBA promotes scientific training and further education, which is oriented towards teaching and research projects at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as well as communication between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, business, management, associations, and institutions involved in further education.

In this context, the Bauhaus WBA has cooperated with a wide range of groups and organisations to develop and organise training projects and further studies in the fields of project management, building management, building conservation and factory planning, as well as international conferences and lecture programs.

KNOTEN WEIMAR – International Transfer Centre Environmental Technology

KNOTEN WEIMAR offers a practical networking concept, connecting global demand and supply while taking into account concrete regional-specific circumstances. Instruments for this network include the KNOTEN WEIMAR company pool, a database of the German environmental sector, and the long-term fostering of personal and institutional partnerships in selected target countries.

Materials Research and Testing Institute (MFPA)

The Material Research and Testing Institute (MFPA) in Weimar is the official material testing facility in the Free State of Thuringia. The institute has signed agreements of cooperation with the Thuringian universities in Weimar, Jena and Ilmenau to coordinate collaboration in the areas of research and teaching.  

The researchers at the facility strive to develop economically and environmentally improved methods of using materials, substances and building components, as well as creating new testing methods.
