The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is home to research and studies on the subject of flight and expulsion. Many members of the university are involved in voluntary refugee aid initiatives. The university offers structures that provide refugees access to the university.

Every year for four weeks in August, the Bauhaus Summer School offers a varied and intensive range of two- and four-week language and subject-specific courses. These courses are an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and people from all over the world and establish international networks.
The Language Centre offers language courses for students and staff of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The programme includes German, English, Spanish, Italian, French and Swedish. Courses in Russian, Portuguese, and Arabic are also offered regularly.
