About the Faculty

Since the Faculty of Art and Design was estab-
lished, project work has remained the focus of instruction, ensuring that knowledge and skills are taught where they are needed most.

The Weimar Model

The Faculty – which is also the art college of Thuringia – offers an integrated, project-based art and design study programme, known as the »Weimar Model«.

University gallery »Nova Art Space«

Since the beginning of the 2022 summer semester, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been taking a decisive step towards its own university gallery. The "Nova Art Space" is to be developed into the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Gallery over the next three years.

Workshops and Equipment

The workshops allow students to build functioning models and prototypes based on their ideas, designs and concepts which they developed in their practice-oriented projects. The students are responsible for creating the works themselves and, if necessary, receive assistance provided by experienced staff.
