Text recognition

Text recognition tools find largely matching text passages in different sources. Whether these are plagiarised or correctly quoted passages must be judged from a professional point of view.

URKUND

URKUND is an automatic text recognition system with a broad base of documents. Data storage takes place in Sweden. Use is only permitted if the respective examination regulations provide for it or if participation is voluntary.

Teachers can apply to use URKUND via a form. An email address is set up to which users can submit their work for examination. The results will be sent by email to the teacher's office address at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Picapica

Picapica offers tools for text comparison and is currently available free of charge in a beta version at  https://www.picapica.org. The tool was developed at the Bauhaus University Weimar (Martin Potthast).

The tool is particularly suitable for recognising the correspondence between documents that are available online (specification of a link) or that are made available via upload.
