Running Fence – Buildings without horizontal view

Paul Virilio / Claude Parent, Église Sainte-Bernadette du Banlay, Nevers, Frankreich (Bilder: Clemens Helmke 2004)

«In one place Heterotopia is capable of bringing together several rooms, which are incompatible in themselves and place them.» 1 Theatres, stages, cinemas, museums, libraries, deposits, sanctified or vorbidden places, the garden, the ship are forms of Heterotopia; from gr.: hetero (differently) and topos (place). With the Project we create an ensemble or relations that they appear as juxtaposed, opposite to eachother, included in one another. An attempt, to design a kind of configuration, which gets by without a panoramic-view, a construction typology which can develope new space qualities by an extensive building depth and constitute fronts.

Statue of Liberty – Metaphor and Architecture

Statue of Liberty, Paris, Paris, New York (Bilder: Clemens Helmke 2005-2012)

The thought to lend freedom figure was created in Colmar, shipped to Paris and was given as a present to NYC, the basement was supported by those who believed in freedom. Our «Else» stands for peace. «Statue of Liberty» stands for freedom. Eduardo Chillidas sculpture «Berlin», a picture like artwork carved out of steel, stands for unity, patience, understanding and tolerance. «nunca se conoce bastante ya que lo conocido oculta, en su interior lo desconocido»1, our knowledge is never comprehensive, nevertheless, the well-known leads in the inner to the un-known. The design is about a house where people meet, inform and inspect; a discourse about shiftings and changes, between presentation and representation.
