At the traditional book sale in July, a total of 872 withdrawn books found a new owner. The 1,294 Euro in proceeds were donated to the association »Blue Shield Germany«, which is committed to the protection of cultural assets in Ukraine. We’d like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all buyers and committed library staff members who enabled the book sale and this donation!
Please read more on the book sale and the donation in this press release.
In order to continue functioning, our library system will have to be migrated to a new server. As a consequence, important services such as borrowing books and requesting them from the closed stacks will be unavailable from July 12th, 5pm, until July 13th. Please request and borrow any materials you need on those days in advance. You will be able to continue searching our collection in BibSearch. If you need to urgently borrow books on short notice or have any other questions, please contact the service desk during service hours from 9am until 6pm. We will try to accomodate your requests to the best of our ability.
The database »Bautabellen digital« is the electronic version of the 25th edition of Schneider Bautabellen. Please keep in mind that the method of access has changed with the new edition. You will find the current URL to jump right into research along with further information in the database information system DBIS.
Until September 30th 2022 test access to »Building Types Online« is available from within the university network.
An extensive search structure provides access to a multitude of information on architectural design theory. There is a focus on residential buildings, but other building types are featured, such as schools and kindergarten buildings, office buildings, museums, sacred buildings, libraries, industrial and research buildings. Buildings are depicted in interior and exterior views, blueprints and other plans, largely vector based and downloadable. Please test the service for yourself!
With the tagline »writing for future!« the 8th Long Night of academic Writing saw us discuss strategies for more sustainable reseach, writing and publishing in workshops, talks, readings and exhibitions, tinker with ideas for a more eco-friendly library and observe how research supports transformation into a society that thinks and acts sustainably. We’d like to thank all participants, our team and our guests for a wonderful cooperation rich with ideas! Please feel free to review the opening ceremony with science fiction writer Theresa Hannig reading from her novel »Pantopia« and participating in a talk as well as selected impressions in picture.
Make research results more visible: Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has joined the global initiative to identify publishers and participants in research processes Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID) and is now a member of the German ORCID consortium. This will make it easier to assign publications, research data and other academic results to specific persons involved in the research process. Please find further information in Bauhaus.Journal Online.
»Spirits, Tobacco, Cinema!« ‒ this is the guideline for the IV. Weimar Silent Films Retrospective to contextualize special films that were shown exactly 100 years ago in the Weimar theaters »Scherffs Lichtspielhaus« (Marktstraße 20) and »Reform Licht-Spiele« (Marienstraße 1). Between August 29th and September 8th 2022, the retrospective will show films like »DR.MABUSE«, »SHACKLETON‘S SOUTH POLE EXPEDITION« or Charlie Chaplin‘s »ONE A.M.«, all accompanied by historic news reels, talks with experts and live music by renowned silent film musicians. One special highlight will be F.W. Murnau‘s »Phantom« accompanied live by Staatskapelle Weimar conducted by composer Robert Israel. The Weimar Silent Film Retrospective is a cooperatve effort by LICHTHAUS KINO, BAUHAUS-UNIVERSITÄT WEIMAR, STADTARCHIV Weimar and KUNSTFEST WEIMAR. You are invited!
