Righteous owners. Architecture’s afterlife.

Inauguration of the Bank of Amerika in Palm Springs by Rudy Baumfeld, 1959

This seminar will ask to research about architectures that thei various occupations record the both personal and ideological narratives. The idea is to analyse how ownership of a building has changed in the face of dramatic political changes, and how the history of a building intersects with the history and memories of its inhabitant. The drama of occupation and reoccupation, use and re-use – the afterlife of architecture – will be investigated in archival research, interviews with architects, inhabitants or experts and if possible, with buildingvisits.
