1) Why are you researching or studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?
Before coming here, I was deeply impressed by the Bauhaus school's historical perspective and its worldwide reputation. Its legacy in shaping modern design and architecture played a significant role in my decision. I chose to study at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar because of its strong interdisciplinary approach, experimental design philosophy, and its unique academic environment. The university promotes critical thinking, creative exploration, and collaboration across fields—all of which support my personal and professional growth.
2) What is special about your project? Why is it relevant?
My project "Look Away" was developed within the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as part of the climate change-themed competition organized by CDSA – City Digital Skin Art in collaboration with Public Art Lab Berlin. It was honored with a Nominee Award and selected for screening on six large-scale digital displays in three different countries. What makes the project special is its artistic and critical approach to the topic of climate change, using strong visual storytelling and emotional symbolism to engage the audience. The work invites viewers to confront uncomfortable truths about environmental destruction and social responsibility, making it highly relevant in today's global context.
3) What characterises your voluntary work in Weimar?
Since 2023, I have been an active volunteer at “Culture Talk Weimar,” a project organized by Studierendenwerk Thüringen. I help organize and moderate intercultural events aimed at connecting international and local students through dialogue and cultural exchange.
In addition, I am currently a member of the Awareness Team at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Our goal is to ensure a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for everyone at the university by offering support and raising awareness about discrimination, boundaries, and respectful interaction.
Previously, I volunteered for one semester as a native speaker in Turkish language courses at the Sprachenzentrum Weimar. Under the supervision of Dr. Johann Wendel, I assisted in teaching Turkish to German-speaking students.
