CeBIT 2012

Last year, in 2011, I asked David Wiesner and Jonas Pencke to present their study project results at the CeBIT in Hannover, Germany. The great response motivated them to continue their research and to start their own business. They reimplemented the module system and Jonas, together with David Kleemann (Hamburg) and Andreas Thenn, applied for an Exist-scholarship. The application was accepted and apphoria was born. This year, the apphoria team will present our improvements on their way to fasten up the creation of customized smartphone-apps. Visit them in hall 26, stand A10.

Open book on MyISAM implementation techniques in German

Some years ago Prof. Dr. Hagen Höpfner (Juniorprofessor) started writing a German textbook on the interna of MySQL. Due to a lack of time he had to stop the entire project. However, he almost finished his research and writing on MyISAM. MyISAM is a default storage plugin for MySQL. It is quite old but frequently used and available as open source. He decided to compile the written stuff in form of a "beta-book". You might download version 0.1 from here. Feel free to contacting him if you want to help finishing or translating the text or if you want to use the figures for lectures or research.

Study Project MyBandApp at CeBIT 2011

In the winter term 2010/2011 the Mobile Media group at the Media Department of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar offered a study project called "MyBandApp". The aim was and is to create an easy way to generate smart phone apps (independent of the smart phone's operating system) for musicians. Jonas Pencke and David Wiesner, both students in our master program "Medieninformatik", worked on this topic and finally presented their awesome results at the CeBIT 2011 in Hannover. We are proud to have such successful students here in Weimar. Here are some links about the CeBIT presentation of Jonas and David.
