Young Sun Möller-Park:
As part of the Forschungswerkstatt 2025/26 project From Process to Aesthetic at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, we invite scholars, students, researchers, and interested members of the public to attend an online roundtable discussion focusing on modernism, media, and material culture in South Asia.
The roundtable explores how modernist ideas—particularly those shaped by Bauhaus and European modernism—were reimagined and transformed in postcolonial South Asia through cinema, print culture, and design practices. It brings together perspectives from architectural history, media studies, aesthetics, and contemporary theory to reflect on how images, objects, and built forms shaped new imaginaries of modernity beyond Europe.
The discussion will feature short inputs by invited experts, followed by moderated conversation and open discussion with the audience. The format is designed to encourage cross-disciplinary exchange and reflection on methods, archives, and conceptual frameworks for studying transnational modernism.
