Writing a PhD thesis or scientific paper is not only about presenting correct data — it is about guiding your reader through a clear, convincing, and meaningful story.

This online workshop is designed for PhD students who are currently working on their thesis and want to improve the clarity, coherence, and impact of their scientific writing.

The workshop focuses on storytelling as a core skill in scientific publications. Participants will learn how to structure their thesis chapters and papers so that readers can easily follow the research question, understand the motivation behind the study, and see how individual results contribute to a larger scientific narrative.

Key topics include:

• What “storytelling” means in a scientific (not fictional) context
• Defining a clear research question and message
• Structuring introductions, results, and discussions as a coherent story
• Highlighting the relevance and contribution of your work

Why is storytelling so important in science?
Scientific readers — reviewers, supervisors, and future researchers — are more likely to understand, remember, and value research that is presented in a clear narrative. Strong storytelling helps:

• Improve readability and comprehension
• Strengthen arguments and interpretations
• Increase the chances of publication and positive reviews
• Make complex ideas accessible without oversimplifying

By the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of how to turn their research into a compelling scientific story and will be able to apply practical strategies directly to their own thesis or manuscripts.
