Bauhaus-Universität Weimar calls for signatures on a commitment to an open society

»Courage, curiosity, confidence« is the title of commitment letter written by the university taking a stance against exclusion, discrimination and violence and for an open society and peaceful coexistence in a setting of diversity and freedom. More than 500 university members have already signed the initiative. The campaign has now also been opened up to non-university members.

Vastly different people from all over the world come together at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and collaborate in the development of ideas and solutions for the pressing issues of the modern world, extending beyond disciplinary borders. The signatories believe in the uniting power of a courageous agreement »to share this world with one another and to live together in a shared space and time with all our different ideas of what a successful life means«.

The university therefore now encourages everyone to join the signature campaign and unite with a positive desire to strengthen and further develop free and democratic order. the campaign is aware of the associated difficulties and challenges, and is thus drawing on critically reflective knowledge accumulation, skills development, and curiosity and interest in solutions for a liveable, welfare-oriented society.
