Keynotes

Prof. Dr. Arno Schlüter - ETH Zürich

Arno Schlueter holds a degree (Dipl.-Ing. Architektur) from the Technical University of Karlsruhe, a postgraduate degree in CAAD and a PhD in building systems from ETH Zurich. In 2010, he was appointed Assistant Professor and in 2014, Full Professor of Architecture and Building Systems (A/S) at the Institute of Technology in Architecture (ITA), ETH Zurich. Since 2013, he is also a Principal Investigator at the Singapore-ETH Future Cities Lab (FCL). He currently is the Head of the Institute of Technology in Architecture of ETH Zurich and a member of the management board of the ETH Energy Science Centre.
In his research, he and his interdisciplinary team focus on sustainable building systems, new adaptive components and their synergetic integration into architecture and urban design using computational approaches for modelling, analysis, and control. In 2009, he co-founded the design and engineering office KEOTO.ch, where he is part of the management board. The work of the A/S Group has been published in scientific journals, magazines and books and has won international competitions and prizes.

Univ. Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Christina J. Hopfe, FIBPSA - TU Graz

Christina Hopfe is full Professor in Building Physics at TU Graz and the head of the institute of building physics, services and construction. She is a Chartered Engineer, and a Fellow of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE). She specialises in decision support techniques using building performance simulation. Her research spans from low and plus energy buildings and communities, uncertainty quantification in building simulation models, optimization techniques, multi-disciplinary stakeholder interactions in building design, and advanced teaching methods for building performance simulation.
She has been a Director-at large of IBPSA World since 2014. Since 2016, she has been responsible for the IBPSA modelling competition which is conducted biennially. Since October 2017 she has also been the chair of the IBPSA communication committee. In 2019 she became a fellow of the International Building Performance Simulation Association (IBPSA).

Dr. Arch. Josep Llorca-Bofí - RWTH Aachen

Dr. Josep Llorca-Bofí is an architect and the leader of the 'Person-focused Analysis of Architectural Design' research group at the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics, RWTH Aachen University. He was awarded the coveted Professional Piano Award at Conservatory Phase before attending higher education at the Barcelona School of Architecture - UPC, where he also served as assistant professor. He handles both building and room acoustics in order to grasp a possible representation of 'space and sound' - a phenomenon that seems familiar to everyone when it comes into the combination of 'architecture and music'. His research interest is on the architect's designs implications on people's perception, by passing over the specific languages of other research areas, such as acoustics. The acoustic simulation indoor and outdoor spaces are in the core of his research, in combination with visual simulation of the environments. In 2021 he obtained one of the Junior Principal Investigator fellowships at RWTH Aachen University.
