What is being researched at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?
Once a year, the Bauhaus Research School organizes a competition for early stage researchers, designers and artists. This year, the competition will take place in cooperation with the »Long Night of Academic Writing« and the »Gründerwerkstatt neudeli« together with the »Thüringer Allianz für Ingenieurwissenschaften« on the »Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on 29.06.2022.
From climate change to digitalisation - research lays the foundation for a transformation towards a modern society that thinks and acts sustainably. Are you part of this »TRANSFORMATION«? At the early stage researchers' contest initiated by the Alliance of Thuringian Engineering Sciences contestants presented a research poster and an accompanying elevator pitch (90 seconds) to show how their research topic is changing our world!
The contest was open to early stage scientists, artists and designers from all subjects at the seven Member universities - FH Erfurt, Duale Hochschule Gera-Eisenach, TU Ilmenau, Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, Hochschule Nordhausen, Hochschule Schmalkalden and the host Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Eligible to participate are
- doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers or
- employees in an early stage of their academic career and
- Advanced Master's students

The 19 contest posters were on display in an online gallery and at an exhibition in the Weimar University Library from 23-29 June 2022. From 23 June 12 noon to 29 June 12 noon, people could vote online for the best poster.

On 29 June, 13 of the 19 posters for the »Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften« were presented live in an »Elevator Pitch« The audience voted for the most convincing and engaging project presentation.

Mit dem Titel »Perspektive Wissenschaft« fand der Wissenschaftstag mit dem Nachwuchswettbewerb am 17. November 2021 hybrid statt. Einen Rückblick auf die Veranstaltung, die den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs in diesem Jahr besonders in den Mittelpunkt rückte, können Sie im Bauhaus.Journal Online lesen.
Zum Nachwuchswettbewerb präsentierten 10 Promovierende und Masterstudierende in der Posterausstellung und den Elevator Pitches ihre Forschungsarbeiten u.a. zu zukunftsweisenden und klimagerechten Lösungen in Architektur und Bauwesen sowie um Fragen des gesellschaftlichen Zusammenhalts und Zusammenlebens.

Das Online-Voting für das beste Poster war vom 03.-11.11.2021 möglich. Alle Poster sind weiterhin in der Postergalerie zu sehen.

In 2020, the »Wissenschaftstag« was held as a digital event. Under the title Science Communication" it took place on 18 November 2020. Here you can find the retrospective and the picture gallery in the Bauhaus.Journal Online.
The contest in 2020 was a special one: For the first time, contestants could prepare for the competition in a pitch training and a workshop for the design of scientific posters. The posters has been shown in advance in the university library and have been presented virtually at the »Wissenschaftstag 2020« in the form of an "Elevator Pitch" - a presentation (German or English) lasting a maximum of 90 seconds, which offers an exciting insight into the project.
The public online voting and the interdisciplinary jury awarded prizes worth a total of 400 euros in the categories: Best Poster/ Best Elevator Pitch / Overall evaluation "Science Communication" (Poster Competition and Elevator Pitch).
From 4 November onwards, the posters were exhibited in the foyer of the University Library and online in a poster gallery. The elevator pitches were shown in the livestream on www.uni-weimar.de/wissenschaftstag at the event on the 18th November 2020.

The posters had to be presented to the audience during the exhibition with an “Elevator Pitch”. You have a max of 90 seconds to present your poster (in German or English) in an exciting and gripping manner. The Elevator Pitch is a compulsory component of the poster contest.
