At the start of each semester we offer guided library tours for first-year students in German or English. During the tour we'll show the different library areas and provide fundamental information on using the library.
During the intro week in October your tutors will coordinate tour dates and times. We also offer tours at any other time for groups of 5-15 people on request.

Wissen erobern
»Wissen erobern. Schüler*innen entdecken Weimarer Bibliotheken« - »Conquering knowledge. Students discover Weimar libraries« - is a joint project of secondary schoold and libraries in Weimar and aims to teach information literacy to tenth graders who are about to write their Seminarfacharbeit. A lecture and library tours are part of the regular schedule.
- In the lecture, which takes about 75 minutes, a Vice President of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will set the expectations towards future students from a university point of view. Following immediately, the students will receive suggestions how to do research and what advantages different sources and types of citation management software offer, using a fictitious Seminarfach topic. Afterwards, representatives of Weimar libraries will show the importance of relevant topics and competent support using their library collections.
- After the lecture there will be tours through the Weimar public library and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar university library combined with research exercises.

»Wissen erobern« will take place on March 1st 2027, 8th and 15th 2027. The schedule will be available here from February 2027.
