From Monday, June 20th to Sunday, June 26th, 2022, the first »Campus Pride Week« will take place at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on the occasion of the »Christopher Street Day (CSD) Weimar«. For one week, sexual and gender diversity will be celebrated on campus, and queer art and culture will be put at the center of campus life. The diverse program invites guests to deal with the complex lived realities of queer people, offers opportunities for exchange and encounters, and provides spaces for networking and strengthening the queer communities.
All students and employees of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are cordially invited to celebrate queer diversity, art and culture together on campus. Together we want to show that homophobia, biphobia, trans*- or inter*phobia have no place at our university!
This year's program was designed by members of the StuKo department »QueerYMR«, the student initiatives »QueerLit« and »Campus.Garten«, students from the course »Gender readings in texts, films and spaces« by Dr. Simon Frisch (Department Film and Media Studies) as well as the Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department of the Bauhaus University Weimar.
The event program with all information and dates can be found below.

On Monday, June 20, 2022, a banner with the so-called »Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag« will be attached to the central balcony of the Main Building. The banner will hang there throughout »Campus Pride Week« — i.e., until June 26, 2022 — sending a signal of diversity and acceptance:
»By hanging the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Pride flag, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is sending a visible signal that queer students and staff are welcome at the university and that discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity has no place here. We at the university are committed to dismantling the existing barriers, especially when it comes to trans/inter/non-binary students and staff«, explains Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes, President (interim) of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

The traveling exhibition »Menstruating Bodies« is a project by students of the seminar »Gender readings in texts, films and spaces« (summer term 2022; Course instructor: Dr. Simon Frisch, Department Film and Media Studies). As part of the project, the seminar participants dealt with topics related to menstruation. The resulting information boards address various sub-areas — from menstrual myths and period articles to the broad gender spectrum of menstruating bodies.
The information boards will be exhibited at various locations in Weimar throughout the summer term 2022. The topics will thus be re/presented on the main campus (June 21 to 25), in the university library (June 27 to July 13) and at this year's »summaery« (July 14 to 16; in Schwanseestraße 143).
The student initiatives »QueerLit« and »Campus.Garten« invite you to an open-air screening of the film »Glück/Bliss«.
The film will be shown in the original German-English-Italian version with English subtitles.
Summary:
»Sascha has been working in the Berlin brothel ›Queens‹ for years. Maria is the new one — nonconformist, self-sufficient, queer. Sascha is immediately drawn to her difference, while Maria is fascinated by Sascha's sovereignty. The attraction turns into a love that works differently than anything they have ever known. It is the promise of great happiness. But then their connection threatens to fall apart — because of their fear of really showing themselves to each other and facing their own individual abysses.
In ›Glück/Bliss‹, Henrika Kull tells the story of two women who meet in a world in which female bodies are commodities. In authentic, powerful images, she follows her two protagonists, who first sneak around, then dance around, soon not being able to live without each other, but also not really together. A thrilling love story that knows no bounds.« (Translation of distributor’s announcement)

Synopsis:
»Parvis grew up as a child of the millennial generation in the comfortable home of his affluent Iranian immigrant parents. He tries to escape the provincial life in Hildesheim through pop culture, Grindr dates and raves. After being caught shoplifting, he has to do community service as a translator in a refugee shelter. There he meets the Iranian siblings Banafshe and Amon. A fragile relationship triangle develops between them, which is increasingly shaped by the awareness that their futures in Germany are unequal.
In his autobiographical directorial debut, Faraz Shariat, born in 1994, tells an authentic and at the same time wonderfully exaggerated story about the queer coming-of-age of an immigrant son in Germany — and thus provides a resolute alternative to conventional German cinema in which post-immigrant experiences and stories of immigrants and their families are all too often excluded or misrepresented.« (Translation of distributor’s announcement)

On Sunday, June 26, at 2:30 p.m., the annual commemoration ceremony for the »pink triangle prisoners« of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps will take place at Buchenwald Memorial. The event is organized every year by the AIDS-Hilfe Weimar & Ostthüringen e.V and the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora Memorials Foundation.
The event commemorates the homosexuals persecuted and murdered by the National Socialists, about 650 of whom were sent to the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps between 1937 and 1945. About a third of the homosexual prisoners interned in Buchenwald died in the concentration camp, and many survivors left Germany after the end of the Second World War.
The Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department will take part in the commemoration and lay a wreath on the memorial stone for the homosexuals who were persecuted and murdered during the Nazi era. We would like to invite all students and employees of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar to join us in commemorating the homosexual victims of National Socialism.

»Throughout the winter term 2021/2022, our ›QueerLit shelf‹ wandered through the university library — filled with queer-feminist literature, which changed its thematic focus at four locations and which is now located at the service desk of the university library. The ›QueerLit Shelf‹ is intended to create more space and awareness for queer-feminist topics at the university, providing new food for thought and empowerment for women and LGBTIQ people. The ›QueerLit‹ collective is now a student initiative and organizes readings and film screenings as well as a wide variety of workshops for queer visibility.« (Self-introduction by the initiative »QueerLit«)

»The campus garden is a small experimental space where we want to try out, discuss and learn about climate justice. In our small dedicated area, we try out urban gardening concepts, offer room for the exchange of ideas among all interested parties, and provide a space in which everyone has the opportunity to participate and network.
In the summer, the garden hosts various alternative events, such as open-air screenings of political films, events using the pizza oven of the »Kitchen for All« (KüfA), workshops, plenary sessions, and small parties. We are open to ideas, for instance, on how to appropriate even more campus space! Everybody is welcome to participate at any time. Via Telegram, we keep people posted about our upcoming public plenary sessions and draw attention to future joint events. The group also serves as a platform for political exchange/information sharing.« (Self-introduction by the »Campus.Garten« initiative)
