Bereits zum zweiten Mal veranstaltet die Fakultät Bauingenieurwesen in Kooperation mit der Bauhaus Weiterbildungsakademie Weimar e.V. (WBA) am 1. September 2023 einen Kennenlerntag für berufstätige Ingenieur*innen, die sich im Bereich Bauphysik oder Bausanierung weiterbilden möchten. Von 13 bis 18 Uhr können sich Studieninteressierte an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar umschauen und mit den Lehrenden ins Gespräch kommen.

At the renowned media art festival »Ars Electronica« in Linz, a total of 29 artists from the Faculty of Art and Design will be exhibiting their works in the »Campus« area from 6 to 10 September 2023. Under the title »Non-machines: Playground of Perspectives«, these artists will enrich the festival programme with contemporary debates and works from the »Media Art and Design« degree programme.

For the second time, the Stifterverband and the Reinhard Frank Foundation have awarded fellowships to student tandems and trios as part of their joint funding programme, »DigitalChangeMaker Accelerator«. Ludwig Lorenz, a student in the Computer Science of Media Bachelor’s degree programme at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, belongs to the interdisciplinary team involved in the acclaimed »PartiDeck« project.

Im Rahmen des Kunstfests Weimar organisiert das bauhaus.medien.bühnen Labor der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar am 24. August ab 12 Uhr einen Workshop mit dem renommierten Theaterregisseur, bildenden Künstler und Architekten Robert Wilson zu der »Psychologie des Bauhauses«. Für das interaktive Format, das allen Interessierten offen steht, sind noch Anmeldungen möglich. Immer mehr Menschen suchen nach alternativen Baustoffen, die natürlichen Ursprungs sind und regional erzeugt werden können. Aufgrund seiner guten Ökobilanz und Wärmeleitfähigkeit rückt Strohballenbau daher verstärkt in den Fokus. Fehlende Standards in Produktion und Genehmigung erschweren jedoch die breite Markteinführung. Welche Stellschrauben gedreht werden müssen, wird im Rahmen der »StrohBallenBauTage« am 11. und 12. September 2023 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar beleuchtet. Eine Anmeldung zur Fachtagung unter dem Motto »Generation Stroh« ist noch möglich.

Twelve young scientists and their mentors from the USA, Poland, Austria and Germany will come to Weimar this August for the »Media Philology 2023« Summer Academy The event will be held from 28 to 30 August in the Bibliothek Julius Petersen of the Goethe- und Schiller-Archiv and will address questions on media studies and philology.

From 15 August to 10 September, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, and the Kunstfest Weimar invite you to exhibitions, workshops and performances: The »Bauhaus-Weeks« begin on Tuesday, 15 August at 6 pm in front of the Bauhaus-Museum Weimar, exactly 100 years after the first major Bauhaus Exhibition. In 1923, this event presented the results of work by the State Bauhaus Weimar to the public for the first time and acted as a magnet for numerous artists, intellectuals and art lovers.

From 13 August to 2 September 2023, experimentation, learning and building will be taking over the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus once more: 215 participants from 50 different countries will be attending various one- to three-week language and tech-nical courses at the Bauhaus Summer School.

Starting on Tuesday, 15 August 2023, visitors will be able to experience special works of art from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, with the award-winning works of the »born to be bauhaus« art prize being shown for the first time in a synopsis exhibition in the premises of the nova space in the Schiller Museum.

On Thursday, 24 August 2023, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s bauhaus.medien.bühnen Lab, together with Kunstfest Weimar, invites you to a workshop with theatre director, visual artist and architect Robert Wilson. Held in the university’s Oberlichtsaal, the event will provide participants with the opportunity to explore the content and perspectives of Bauhaus psychology through lectures, film screenings and discussion panels.

Der Freie-Kunst-Absolvent Felix Deiters ist am Freitag, 14. Juli 2023, mit dem Lyonel Kunstpreis 2023 ausgezeichnet worden. Eine hochkarätige Jury hatte seine Diplomarbeit aus insgesamt drei nominierten Arbeiten für den mit 2.000 Euro dotierten Nachwuchspreis des Lyonel-Verein zur Förderung von Kunst, Gestaltung und Kultur (Lyonel e.V.) ausgewählt.

Under the title »Move On«, the graduates of the product design degree programme of the Faculty of Art and Design present their Bachelor's and Master's theses in an online exhibition. At summaery2023, the annual exhibition of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the works can also be viewed on site in Weimar from 13 to 16 July 2023.

As coordinating university of the BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar – together with six partner universities – received the European Commission’s Seal of Excellence in June 2023. It was awarded to the University Alliance for its proposal within the scope of the »European Universities« initiative. The overarching goal of the University Alliance is to promote the sustainable and inclusive development of European regions.

Medienvertreter*innen sind zur Verleihung des Lyonel Kunstpreises am Freitag, 14. Juli 2023, 18 Uhr, herzlich in die Berkaer Straße 11 eingeladen. Der Nachwuchsförderpreis für künstlerische Abschlussarbeiten wird zum vierten Mal verliehen.

As part of the »100 Years of Bauhaus« centenary exhibition, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is organising the artistic-scientific symposium »Heterotopie Ilmpark. Raum für Neue Umweltästhetik«. The symposium will use Weimar’s Ilmpark as a spatial-historical basis for discussion and will address concepts of nature and environmental aesthetics inscribed therein. In this context, the Park itself will serve as the venue for some of the conference.

Im Rahmen des Leipziger Hörspielsommers präsentieren Studierende der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und der Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen ihre im letzten Jahr entwickelten Hörstücke: Im fünften Hörspielmanuskriptwettbewerb werden die besten Produktionen unter diesen Stücken am Sonntag, 9. Juli 2023, prämiert und ausgezeichnet.

Vom 4. bis 9. Juli laden Mobilitätsexpert*innen der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar zu einer besonderen Tour durch die Thüringer Landeshauptstadt ein: Bei einer Performance, die autonomes, KI-gesteuertes Fahren simuliert, können Neugierige den Stadtraum Erfurt erkunden. Die Fahrt mit der »Soulmachine« ist Teil der Veranstaltung »Bauhaus.MobilityLab – NEXT«, bei der aktuelle Forschungsergebnisse zu Künstlicher Intelligenz in Mobilität, Logistik und Energie präsentiert werden.

In Kooperation mit der Stadtkulturdirektion Weimar veranstaltet die Universitätsbibliothek der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar am 29. September 2023, 19 Uhr, im Audimax eine Lesung mit anschließendem Gespräch mit dem Krimiautor Volker Kutscher (Gereon-Rath-Reihe).

At the height of the summer, when nature is blooming, the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is also metaphorically in »full bloom». Everyone is busy designing, displaying, clearing, building – and entirely focused on the end of the lecture period and the »summaery2023«. This year, the annual show will take place from 13 to 16 July 2023 according to the motto of »23:gardens« and present smart ideas, practical solutions for everyday life, projects that look far into the future, performances, film screenings and art exhibitions. Almost 200 individual projects and study outcomes can be viewed and experienced on the university campus and throughout Weimar over a four-day period.

Insgesamt sieben Preise haben studentische Arbeiten aus der Fakultät Kunst und Gestaltung beim diesjährigen Nachwuchswettbewerb des Art Directors Club (ADC) erhalten: jeweils zwei der begehrten Nägel in Gold und Bronze und drei Auszeichnungen gingen an Bauhaus-Studierende. Besonders erfolgreich war Simon Geistlinger mit seiner Abschlussarbeit »Uns wird schon was einfallen«. Er punktete in drei Kategorien und nahm zwei der goldenen Nägel mit nach Hause.
