Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and NT.AG Launch Partnership to Support AI-Based Start-Up Projects

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Thuringian IT company NT Neue Technologie AG are stepping up their collaboration on start-ups and innovation. The aim of the partnership is to provide more targeted support for technology-focussed start-up projects, especially those related to artificial intelligence, software development, and data-driven business models.

The collaboration will start off as a pilot project within the Startup Hub »neudeli« workshop at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Students, researchers, and up-and-coming start-up teams will be given early access to technological infrastructure, entrepreneurial experience, and practical expertise.

Within the partnership, NT.AG will be contributing their expertise, particularly in the areas of AI development, data security, and cloud and hosting infrastructure. Plans include providing expertise in innovative formats such as a »Promt-a-thon«, mentoring opportunities for selected teams, and using technical testing environments for non-commercial development projects.

»The relationship between entrepreneurial creativity and technological infrastructure is essential to the success of sustainable business models«, says Prof. Peter Benz, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. »With the NT.AG, we are getting a regional partner who will provide practical expertise and valuable resources to our start-up programme.«

From the business perspective, the collaboration also offers major opportunities for Thuringia as an innovation hub. »There is huge potential in the innovative business ideas and start-up projects that emerge from universities«, explains Daniel Böhme, Director of the NT Neue Technologie AG. »As a partner in technology, we want to provide early support for start-ups and offer infrastructure, technical expertise, and access to our network. The collaboration with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is the ideal environment for this.«

The collaboration is initially planned as a pilot project. NT.AG has been involved as a partner at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since the 2025/2026 winter semester in fellowship programmes and supporting start-ups through mentoring, technological expertise, and access to infrastructure.

Both partners are thinking about expanding their cooperation through, for instance, new mentoring programmes, joint innovation programmes, and new funding opportunities for technology-focusses start-ups. The partnership between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and NT.AG aims to strengthen entrepreneurial skills,  speed up the transfer of scientific innovations into marketable applications, and sustainably boost Thuringia’s innovative capacity.
