Since we fully entered the internet and social media era, the spread of fake news and conspiracy theories has increased dramatically. In the flood of information, it is becoming increasingly difficult to identify them as such. On the one hand, false truths are being presented and spread much more professionally and insidiously; on the other hand, many people do not research into the background of news stories.
To draw attention to this problem, Annika Dauer, Lara Desens, Youngseo Park and Justine Sterzing developed the board game BÖÖRB. Exposing fake news is particularly funny in BÖÖRB. Across five categories, players can discover which conspiracy theories they would have fallen for. The twist is that the player who believes the most conspiracy theories moves forward in the game, and the winner gets to take home the dubious title of 'Conspiracy King'. The game consists of a board and an app that keeps the questions and tasks up to date. Designed for all ages, BÖÖRB offers a humorous way to test your susceptibility to fake news.
