Campaign by Thuringian Universities

2024 is a significant election year for the federal states of Thuringia, Brandenburg and Saxony. Local elections will take place on 26 May, followed by European Parliament elections on 6–9 June. State parliament elections will be held on 1 September in Thuringia. Through the '92 Days' campaign, lecturers and alumni from the Faculty of Art and Design are encouraging students at all Thuringian universities to register their main residence in Thuringia, enabling them to vote in the upcoming elections and support democracy in the Free State. Many students and staff are unaware that, to be eligible to vote in Thuringia, they must be registered there at least 92 days (or three months) before election day. The deadline to register to vote in the Weimar local elections on 26 May is 26 February. This means that time is running out for anyone who does not have Weimar as their primary residence but who wants to influence how politics will shape their immediate living environment over the coming years.

The communications experts have set out to resolve this "time issue": the '92 Days' campaign raises awareness, provides information and encourages timely action – not just for students who need to re-register, but for everyone. Alongside social media posts, the microsite www.92tage.de has been designed to provide further information and direct users to the registration form in just a few clicks. This can be completed online, printed, signed and sent to the local authorities. The campaign was spread by several universities, including Bauhaus-Universität, the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt, the University of Erfurt, the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena, the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences, Schmalkalden University of Applied Sciences and the Franz Liszt University of Music Weimar.
