Haus Bräutigam am 1. Baukultur-Festival der Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen beteiligt

Die Stiftung Baukultur Thüringen lädt vom 5. bis 7. September 2024 zum Baukulturfestival in den Eiermannbau Apolda ein. In einer Atmosphäre zwischen konzentriertem Austausch und feierlicher Stimmung geht es um Fragen wie diese: Wo steht die Bauwende? Welche Pilotprojekte zeigen uns den Weg? Und wie können wir gemeinsam mehr erreichen?

Climate Mitigation in Urban Areas: Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Launches Test Site

After several years in development, the prototype for a new type of façade greenery system integrated with solar panels is being tested under real conditions at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) funded »Vertikale Klima-Klär-Anlage« (VertiKKA for short) project will be installed on the façade of the Bauhaus-Institute for Infrastructure Solutions (b.is) at Coudraystraße 10. The prototype will be presented to the public for the first time during the grand opening on 5 September 2024 starting at 4 pm.

Dare to Design – German Design Graduates Show 2024 stellt drei Arbeiten aus der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar aus

Vom 31. August 2024 bis zum 5. Januar 2025 zeigt die Ausstellung »Dare to Design« des Rat für Formgebung im Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main innovative Projekte, Positionen und Visionen junger Produkt- und Industriedesigner*innen. Die 45 Abschlussarbeiten von 22 bundesdeutschen Hochschulen zeichnen sich durch Themenvielfalt und differenzierte Gestaltungshaltungen aus – und insbesondere durch ihr Potenzial, den gesellschaftlichen Wandel zukunftsweisend mitzugestalten. Mit dabei sind drei Abreiten aus der Fakultät Kunst und Gestaltung.

Media Art Students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar to Participate Once Again in Ars Electronica 2024

Media Art and Design students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be presenting their work at this year’s »Ars Electronica 2024« in Linz from 4 to 8 September 2024. Under this year’s slogan, »sense & sense-abilities«, artists are inviting visitors to reflect on subjective sensory experiences and how they influence our behaviour through interactive installations and performances.

VI. Weimar Silent Film Retrospective Presents Films from 1924 as Part of the Kunstfest Weimar

From 26 August to 6 September, the 6th »Weimarer Stummfilm-Retrospektive«, together with the Media Studies Department and the University Library, will be screening a selection of silent films under the slogan »Weltenecho! Filme der Weimarer Republik in den Weimarer Kinos 1924«. The event, which has established itself as a permanent fixture in the Kunstfest Weimar programme, will provide insights into one of the most influential periods in film history. Over ten evenings, a total of 20 films that played in Weimar cinemas in 1924 will be screened at the Lichthaus-Kino Weimar.

»Kunst schafft Demokratie« – Exhibition and Poster Campaign for Thuringian State Elections

The Kunstfest Weimar, MeetFrieda Foundation, and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar invite you to the opening event of the »Kunst schafft Demokratie« (democracy through art) exhibition in the University Library. The exhibition is part of a comprehensive eponymous art campaign that is aiming to motivate people to consider, discuss and act shortly before the Thuringian state elections.

»Weimarer Wissensdialog«: Public Discussion Hosted by Art and Science

Together with other Weimar educational institutions, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be hosting the »Weimarer Wissensdialog. Wissenschaft und Kunst für eine starke Demokratie« (Weimar knowledge dialogue. Science and art for a strong democracy.) on Friday, 23 August 2024. The attending researchers and artists will be presenting their projects and are hoping to engage in discussions with Weimar citizens. The event is being held as part of the »Weltoffenes Thüringen« (Open-Minded Thuringia) initiative.

Images from the Ceremonial Key Handover for Bauhausstraße 11

On Friday, 16 August 2024, the »Kassenärztlichen Vereinigung Thüringen« handed over the keys to the newly renovated and expanded building at Bauhausstraße 11 back over to the tenant, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, following 2.5 years of renovations. For over 25 years, the Faculty of Media has been home to the departments of Computer Science of Media and Media Studies, as well as the Faculty’s labs, seminar rooms and offices. Extensive renovations, including a new extension, on the building began in autumn of 2021 at the request of the KVT and in accordance with the building’s status. The renovations will provide modern and improved study and working conditions in the 2024/2025 winter semester.

Renovation and Refurbishment of Bauhausstraße 11 Completed: »Kassenärztliche Vereinigung« Hands Building Back Over to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Faculty of Media

One semester earlier than planned, the owner of the building, the »Kassenärztlichen Vereinigung Thüringen (KVT)«, will hand the building at Bauhausstraße 11 back over to its tenant, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, on Friday, 16 August, 2024 at 10:30 am. The exhibition shows works by students, university lecturers and external positions that deal with the fragile state of ideas of future visions, the vacuum, the interspaces and -tones, scenarios and snapshots when systems threaten to collapse.

International Summer with the Bauhaus Summer School 2024

It’s that time again: From 7 to 31 August 2024, 230 students from over 50 countries will be in Weimar to take part in two- to three-and-a-half-week language and specialist courses at the Bauhaus Summer School. Guests are warmly invited to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus for the final presentation on 30 August beginning at 2 pm.

The student, immersive musical theatre »Das graue Tuch« (The Grey Cloth) celebrates its premiere

On 21 July 2024, the German-language version of the Gesamtkunstwerk »Das graue Tuch« will premiere at the Zeiss Planetarium Jena. The immersive 360-degree fulldome show, created under the direction of Hon. Prof. Micky Remann with students from Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, promises a spectacular performance with live theatre and orchestra.

Maria Fabricius-Wendt Wins »Lyonel Kunstpreis 2024«

Freie Kunst graduate Maria Fabricius-Wendt was awarded the »Lyonel Kunstpreis 2024« on Friday, 12 July 2024. The award, which honours the final projects of up-and-coming talent in the Faculty of Art and Design and comes with a 2,000 euro prize, has conferred by »Lyonel – Verein zur Förderung von Kunst, Gestaltung und Kultur (Lyonel e.V.)« since 2019.

summaery2024: What Visitors to Campus Can Expect

Knocking, sawing, hammering: The final preparations for summaery2024 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are underway. Starting on Thursday afternoon, the campus will be transformed into an exhibition and festival area where encounters and exchanges can take place. From 11 to 14 July, students will be presenting their ideas for the future, showcasing the results of the academic year and inviting visitors to explore and discuss. What moves us at summaery2024? Part 4: Faculty of Media

Starting at 5 pm on Friday, 12 July, the Faculty of Media will be presenting a wide range of projects that deal with the present and future of a diverse, digital society as part of their Open Lab Night for summaery. This year will be the last time that the Computer Science of Media and Media Studies Departments transform their rooms in the former Coca-Cola factory at Schwanseestraße 143 into an experimentation and research station. Once the lecture period ends in August, the Faculty will be moving back to Bauhausstraße 11.
