Das Institut für Europäische Urbanistik lädt am 24. und 25. September zu seiner Jahrestagung 2025.

Mit zwei Beiträgen im Dezember 2025 und Januar 2026 bringen Wissenschaftlerinnen der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ihre Expertise in die deutschlandweite Ringvorlesung »Down to Earth« ein. Die vom Dachverband Lehm e. V. und weiteren Partner*innen organisierte Vortragsreihe beleuchtet aktuelle Entwicklungen, Perspektiven und Forschungsansätze des Bauens mit Lehm.

Die Ausstellung »Nur hundert Jahre – Zur Aktualität von Frauenwahlrecht und Frauenpolitik« macht vom 2. Oktober bis 9. November Station in Weimar und lädt dazu ein, die Geschichte des Frauenwahlrechts neu zu entdecken und ihre Bedeutung für die Gegenwart zu reflektieren. Im Foyer der Universitätsbibliothek beleuchtet sie die kaum erforschten Lebenswege von Frauen, die nach Einführung des Frauenwahlrechts in der Weimarer Republik kommunalpolitisch aktiv waren.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will have its own booth at this year’s »Mitmachtag der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DGLR)« in Erfurt. On 4 October 2025, concepts for structures on the surface of the moon will be presented together with the visionary »Spacestation Cloud 9« model for low-lunar orbit. The project was developed by students and is part of the interdisciplinary »Beyond Horizon« project at the Professorship of Construction Design and Structural Design under the title »Sea-scraper«.

Am 21. August 2025 wurde im Rahmen des Kunstfest Weimar der Leitsatz »WE CANNOT IGNORE ME/CFS« im Lichthaus Kino ausgerufen. Den ersten Teil der Veranstaltung bildete der Dokumentarfilm UNREST (USA, 2017), in dem die von Myalgischer Enzephalomyelitis (ME) betroffene Regisseurin und Wissenschaftlerin Jennifer Brea Einblicke in ihre Alltagsrealität gewährt, aber auch auf erschütternde Weise die mit der Krankheit verbundene, weltweite humanitäre Katastrophe deutlich wird. Anschließend vermittelten die Gäste der Podiumsdiskussion – die an ME erkrankte Podcasterin und Netzwerkerin Molly, der Kinderkardiologe Dr. Bruno Kolterer, der Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für die Belange von Menschen mit Behinderungen Jürgen Dusel sowie Lilli Hallmann, Mutter eines schwerbetroffenen Kindes, vielfältige und bewegende Einblicke in ihre persönlichen Berührungspunkte mit der neuro-immunologischen Erkrankung und ihren Umgang mit den Folgen dieser desaströsen Versorgungslage und Forschungsunterfinanzierung.

Am 18. September ist die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Gastgeberin der Verbundkonferenz des Kooperationsverbunds Thüringer Hochschulbibliotheken (ThHoBi). Nach 2019 findet die Veranstaltung bereits zum zweiten Mal in der Lounge des Bibliotheksgebäudes statt.

On 4 September, the BAUHAUS4EU University Alliance invited its partners from across Thuringia to a workshop at the Startup Hub »neudeli«. The Thuringian »B4EU-Regional Council« kicked off its work with the constituent meeting. The goal is to strengthen the relationship between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and regional partners and to initiate collaborative projects. In addition to representatives from the Faculties of Architecture & Urbanism, Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Media, University President Prof. Peter Benz was also in attendance.

The »spacing – Lernen zwischen Räumen« three-day conference will be hosted by the Learnraum.Bauhaus and the eTeach-Netzwerk Thüringen from 24 to 26 September at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The event will centre around the idea of designing physical, digital, and hybrid spaces so that they provide optimal support for teaching and learning. Registration is open for those interested and is free of charge.

A teaching project in the semester break? That’s certainly unusual. And it’s being held in Potsdam, rather than in Weimar? How interesting! We wanted to take a closer look. The successful double exhibition »UNBOXING BAUHAUS« has just closed with a finissage and the participants can consider themselves enriched by the countless experiences. We asked how the project came about.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is participating in this year's Campus Exhibition at Ars Electronica 2025 in Linz with several contributions. In keeping with the festival motto »Panic«, students and faculty from the departments of Art and Design as well as Architecture and Urbanism are presenting artistic works that critically examine digital technologies, ecological contexts, and social issues.

How can we actively oppose right-wing radicalisation online? And how can we combat hatred and hate speech on social media? Between 2 and 5 September, students from all disciplines are invited to explore just these issues in greater depth and to learn how to counteract them creatively during a block seminar on strategies for de-radicalisation on social media (»Künstlerisch forschende Strategien zur De-Radikalisierung auf Social Media«).

How inclusive is the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar? On 21 August 2025, Jürgen Dusel (Federal Commissioner for the Interests of Persons with Disabilities) visited to learn more about inclusion at our university. He encouraged those present to continue to work passionately to break down barriers and champion inclusive structures. After all, society as a whole ultimately benefits if everyone can participate in all available offers. »Accessibility is not there for ›the others,‹ but for all of us,« Dusel emphasised.

On 3 September 2025, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will host the 10th meeting on racism in schools in Thuringia (»Schule ohne Rassismus – Schule mit Courage«). According to the motto of »Us against racism. Us with courage.« participants from existing and prospective Courage Schools across Thuringia and their cooperation partners will come together to address the topics of racism, anti-discrimination and diversity in workshops, discussions and creative projects.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar was honoured to host the Federal Minister of Education, joined by Thuringian Minister for Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur, during her inaugural visit to Thuringia. The sentiment was shared by Presidential Board members and numerous other staff members who were on hand when University President Prof. Peter Benz welcomed Karin Prien, Federal Minister of Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, as well as numerous other guests to Marienstraße on Wednesday, 20 August 2025. Robot dog »Spot« even made an appearance to welcome the special visitors.

As part of her »#Möglichmachertour«, Thuringian Minister of Economics Colette Boos-John visited the IAB – Institut für Angewandte Bauforschung Weimar gGmbH on Wednesday, 20 August 2025. The IAB has been an affiliated institute of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar since last year and is a key partner in Weimar’s development as a location for research. The Minister was briefed on the business-focussed research conducted at the IAB and the plans for the »Zukunft des Bauens« Thuringian Innovationszentrum.

A short TikTok clip, a provoking comment below the Instagram post – shared and liked thousands of times. This is then followed by a flood of support, outrage, and hatred: Radical anti-feminist and queerphobic voices are becoming dominant in social media discourse. Algorithms, filter bubbles, and targeted campaigns reinforce these tendencies and influence political attitudes. But how do we fight hate and hate speech on social media platforms? From 2 to 7 September, the »Künstlerisch forschende Strategien zur De-Radikalisierung auf Social Media« block seminar invites students to explore digital networks and develop creative counter-strategies to online hate. The results will be presented as part of the finissage of the Kunstfest Weimar.

Geringe Lebensqualität, Isolation bis zum Verschwinden aus der Gesellschaft und unterfinanzierte Forschung – das sind die Schlagworte, die derzeit vor allem für die Krankheit Myalgische Enzephalomyelitis/Chronisches Fatigue Syndrom (ME/CFS) stehen. Um die Konsequenzen dieser ignorierten Krankheit sichtbar zu machen und in den Diskurs zu stellen, findet am 21. August 2025, 19 Uhr, im Lichthaus Kino die Veranstaltung »WE CANNOT IGNORE ME/CFS« im Rahmen des Kunstfest Weimar statt.

Wie lässt sich Landschaft im Zeitalter des Anthropozäns denken, gestalten und erfahren? Mit einer Ausstellung und einem öffentlichen Gespräch am Donnerstag, 21. August 2025, 17 Uhr, im Eiermannbau Apolda lädt die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar dazu ein, dem Thüringer Wald aus verschiedenen Perspektiven zu begegnen – als Imagination, Ressource und Realität.

Unter dem Motto »Wider den Bluff! Filme der Weimarer Republik in den Weimarer Kinos 1925« zeigt die VII. Weimarer Stummfilm-Retrospektive unter Beteiligung des Fachbereichs Medienwissenschaft und der Universitätsbibliothek vom 25. August bis 5. September 2025 ein ausgewähltes Stummfilmprogramm mit Live-Musik. Als etablierter Teil des Weimarer Kunstfest wird eine der bedeutendsten Phasen der Filmgeschichte kontextualisiert. An zehn Abenden sind insgesamt 13 verschiedene Filme zu sehen, die 1925 in den Weimarer Kinos gezeigt wurden.
