Wie können Innovationen entstehen, Fachkräfte gewonnen und die großen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit bewältigt werden? Antworten auf diese Fragen suchte der Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften Thüringen am 17. Juni 2026 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Unter dem Motto »Future FormING« kamen rund 250 Schüler*innen, Wissenschaftler*innen aus den Thüringer Hochschulen sowie zahlreiche Vertreter*innen aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Bildung zusammen, um über die Zukunft des Innovations- und Bildungsstandorts Thüringen zu diskutieren.

From 9 to 12 July 2026, the University campus will once again transform into a venue for exhibitions, discussions, and encounters. Students and instructors from all departments will be presenting over 150 projects and research findings from the past academic year during the »summaery2026« annual exhibition. This year’s theme, selected by the Faculty of Media, is: »prompt‽«, a term that alludes to artificial intelligence and can also be understood as a catalyst for new ideas and a starting point for creative processes.

Am 25. und 26. Juni 2026 findet an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar die internationale, englischsprachige Tagung »Archaeologies of the Communist Avant-Gardes: Ephemerality and Leftist Visual Production in Central and Eastern Europe between the World Wars« statt. Die Veranstaltung wird von der Professur Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Fribourg (Schweiz) organisiert.

The motivation for learning doesn’t always come from a textbook; sometimes a surprising experience, a moment of confusion, or a conversation is enough to trigger something and open up new ways of thinking. »Experiential TURN – Erfahrungsräume für zukunftsfähiges Lernen« (space for experiential learning for a sustainable future) is the theme for the TURN Conference 2026, which will be held on 24 and 25 September 2026 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The Conference will explore the role played by experience when it comes to teaching, learning, and higher education development.

From Monday, 22 June to Sunday 28 June, the Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department, together with other queer initiatives and student organisations, is inviting all University members and interested visitors to a diverse programme focussed on queer themes.

On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the city of Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are hosting the Thuringian »Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften (Engineering Day)« together with the »Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften« universities, businesses, research institutions, and political representatives. From 9 am to 6 pm, the event will be highlighting the importance of engineering and STEM disciplines for Thuringia’s economic, technological, and social development. In attendance at the event were Thuringian Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John and star civil engineer Werner Sobek.

The beauty of quiet stories and invisible connections is often unnoticed in everyday life. Students from BAUHAUS4EU Alliance partner universities, including the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, are working to shed light on these hidden layers. The »BAUHAUS NOVA 2026: Beauty Unseen« exhibition is dedicated to aesthetics and exploring how beauty shapes our shared lives and experiences. The opening event will take place on 12 June in the Oberlichtsaal at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and features discussions with artists.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, the Stiftung Bauhaus Dessau, the German UNESCO Commission, the Thuringian Ministry of »Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur«, and the city of Weimar celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Bauhaus UNESCO World Heritage Sites during a ceremony in the Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium on 7 June 2026.

Warum bauen wir Bauwerke, die nach 30 Jahren saniert werden müssen? Im Rahmen der einBlick-Vortragsreihe erläutert Dr.-Ing. Marc Zintel von Steeltec, wie eine gezielte Planung und ein bewusster Einsatz von Edelstahlbewehrung bei Brücken-, Tunnel- und Wasserbau die Langlebigkeit von Infrastrukturprojekten erhöht. Interessierte sind herzlich am 11. Juni 2026 ab 17 Uhr in den Hörsaal A, Marienstr. 13, eingeladen.

On Monday, 15 June 2026, Kathrin Meyer, Director of Museum Sinclair-Haus in Bad Homburg, will be a guest at the Faculty of Art and Design. Museum Sinclair-Haus focuses on art and nature. Meyer previously worked at the German Hygiene Museum in Dresden, where she established a reputation for contemporary exhibition formats. Her lecture on her curatorial practice begins at 17 Uhr in the Van-de-Velde-Building. Afterwards, there will be time for a Q&A.

Von Donnerstag, 4. Juni, bis Samstag, 6. Juni 2026 laden die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und die Literarische Gesellschaft Thüringen e. V. zu den Internationalen Thüringer Poetryfilmtagen ein. Das Festival für Poesiefilm und Videopoetry stellt in diesem Jahr die Beziehung zwischen »Poetry Slam« und »Poetry Film« ins Zentrum.

Alle zwei Jahre ruft die Deutsche Zement- und Betonindustrie zur Betonkanu-Regatta auf. Der 20. Wettbewerb für Sportbegeisterte aus berufsbildenden Schulen, Fachhochschulen, Hochschulen und anderen Institutionen, an denen Betontechnik gelehrt wird, findet vom 19. bis 20. Juni 2026 in Brandenburg an der Havel statt. Auch Studierende der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar sind wieder dabei. Am Mittwoch, den 10. Juni 2026 laden sie Interessierte ein, bei der öffentlichen Taufe und anschließenden Testfahrt der Betonboote um 13.30 Uhr im Schwanseebad Weimar dabei zu sein.

Vom 2. bis 7. Juni verwandelt eine Gruppe Studierender das leerstehende Café Harlekin in Schmiedefeld am Rennsteig in einen offenen Begegnungsort. Als Teil des bundesweiten Netzwerks »Urbane Liga« machen sie das Gebäude temporär zugänglich als Arbeits-, Ausstellungs- und Gesprächsraum für alle, die vorbeikommen möchten.

Mit seiner Antrittsvorlesung an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar mit dem Titel »Innovative Tragstrukturen im Kontext der Nachhaltigkeit und Digitalisierung« beleuchtet Prof. Dr.-Ing. Michael Herrmann am 17. Juni 2026 den aktuellen Stand der Forschung im Fachgebiet Konstruktives Entwerfen und Tragwerkslehre. Im Anschluss widmet sich Prof. Dr. Dr. E.h. Dr. h.c. Werner Sobek der Frage »Was ist das Ganze?« und spannt dabei den Bogen von der Grauen Energie über die Trägheit des Bauschaffens bei der Umsetzung der Nachhaltigkeitsziele bis hin zu deren Einfluss auf die Architektur.

With a diverse programme of art and cultural events, two academic cohorts from the the Deutschen Akademie Rom Villa Massimo will be visiting Weimar for the first time in the summer of 2026. 22 Rompreis recipients from the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 cohorts from the fields of architecture, art, literature, and composition will be showcasing their work at prominent partner institutions and in other public spaces throughout the city. The series begins with a guest lecture by film maker Lola Randl on 27 May 2026 at 5 pm in the Oberlichtsaal of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Noch den ganzen Sommer über können die Besucher*innen der Landesgartenschau in Leinefelde-Worbis im sogenannten »Blumenblock« Kunst aus der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar sehen. Im dritten Obergeschoss des leergezogenen Plattenbaus untersuchen zehn Studierende der Freien Kunst die Spuren ehemaliger Bewohner*innen und fragen nach Formen des Wohnens, Erinnerns und Zusammenlebens. Sonic Tuesdays is an ongoing evening series hosted jointly by the professorships of Acoustic Ecologies and Sound Studies and Experimental Radio — a regular gathering point for listening, performing, presenting, and thinking together through sound. This summer semester, we open two Sonic Tuesdays evenings to student contributions: Tuesday, 23 June 2026 and Tuesday, 7 July 2026. Please submit your proposals by 4 June 2026.
