Am Donnerstag, 9. Juli 2026, verlieh der Studierendenkonvent (StuKo) den Lehrpreis der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar an fünf Lehrformate, die von Studierenden als besonders gelungen bewertet wurden. Die Verleihung fand im Rahmen der summaery-Eröffnung vor dem Hauptgebäude statt.

Weimar gilt als Stadt der Klassik, des Bauhauses und bedeutender Kulturgeschichte. Doch welche Geschichten bleiben oft unerzählt? Der geführte Stadtrundgang des Projekts »Decolonize Weimar« lädt dazu ein, verborgene koloniale Bezüge zu entdecken und Weimars Stadtraum aus einem neuen Blickwinkel kennenzulernen. Die nächsten Rundgänge finden am Samstag, 11. Juli, um 9.30 Uhr (deutsch) sowie um 17.30 Uhr (englisch) statt. Treffpunkt ist die M18 / Hund Kurwenal.

Research is considered the foundation of knowledge: But how is research defined today, and what does it mean? Who decides which questions are asked, which methods are recognised, and which topics receive funding? And how are technological infrastructures, artificial intelligence, and social conflicts influencing research? These are the questions that the 15th International Bauhaus-Colloquium will be focussing on from 4 to 7 November 2026 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Under the title »Politics of Research«, the conference, which will be held in English, will bring together nearly 130 international researchers from the fields of architecture and urban planning, art and design, and media and cultural studies to discuss the political, institutional, and societal conditions of research. Die Juniorprofessur Konstruktives Entwerfen und Erproben der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar lädt gemeinsam mit den Studierenden zum diesjährigen Baustellenfest auf dem Versuchsgut Dornburg ein. Die Veranstaltung findet am Samstag, 11. Juli 2026, ab 15 Uhr auf der Domäne Dornburg, Markt 2, 07774 Dornburg-Camburg, statt.

Vom 23. bis 26. Juli 2026 wird Weimar erstmals mit einem Festival an Kunst- und Kulturveranstaltungen zum Ort einer gemeinsamen Präsentation der Deutschen Akademie Rom Villa Massimo mit zwei akademischen Jahrgängen. Unter dem Titel »Wo die Citronen glüh’n – Villa Massimo zu Gast in Weimar« zeigen 22 Rompreistragende der Jahrgänge 2024/25 und 2025/26 aus den Bereichen Architektur, Kunst, Literatur und Komposition ihre Arbeiten in renommierten Partnerinstitutionen sowie im öffentlichen Raum der Stadt. Das Eröffnungswochenende bildet den Auftakt des Festivals, während die Ausstellungen anschließend noch über mehrere Monate in Weimar zu sehen sind.

The »summaery2026« annual exhibition is a highlight of the Weimar summer every year. From 9 to 12 July, visitors are invited to explore the University campus. In a relaxed atmosphere, students and instructors will be presenting projects and research findings from the fields of architecture, civil engineering, art, design, and media.

Wie entstehen Innovationen? Welche Bedingungen brauchen Wissenschaft und Forschung, um neue Ideen zu entwickeln? Mit diesen Fragen beschäftigte sich die Netzwerkveranstaltung »CZSvorOrt« der Carl-Zeiss-Stiftung, welche am 2. Juli 2026 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar stattfand. Im nachempfundenen »Wohnzimmer« ihres Namensgebers Carl Zeiss präsentierte die Stiftung gemeinsam mit Akteur*innen aus ihrem Netzwerk erfolgreiche Praxisbeispiele und bot Raum für Austausch.

The theme of this year’s summaery is »prompt‽« – a term that naturally brings to mind digital systems and artificial intelligence. But engineering also often begins with a »prompt« – a question, challenge, or problem for which a solution is required.

What remains when machines come to a standstill? And what happens when a market is more than just a space for commercial activity – namely, a collection of memories, routines, and stories? Architecture and Urbanism students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are exploring these questions at two very different locations and presenting their work for summaery2026 in the Main Building.

What happens between a question and its answer? Between an impulse and the reaction to it? The theme of »prompt‽« focusses on exactly that: triggers, reflection, and experimentation. At summaery2026, the Faculty of Media will be presenting projects that show how input influences virtual worlds, how intelligent systems respond to questions, and how new perspectives emerge when people and technology intersect.

The Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism is continuing its presentation series by former Villa Massimo fellows in Rome with Benedikt Hartl’s lecture on Wednesday, 24 June 2026 at 5 pm in the Oberlichtsaal.

Wie können Innovationen entstehen, Fachkräfte gewonnen und die großen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit bewältigt werden? Antworten auf diese Fragen suchte der Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften Thüringen am 17. Juni 2026 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Unter dem Motto »Future FormING« kamen rund 250 Schüler*innen, Wissenschaftler*innen aus den Thüringer Hochschulen sowie zahlreiche Vertreter*innen aus Wirtschaft, Politik und Bildung zusammen, um über die Zukunft des Innovations- und Bildungsstandorts Thüringen zu diskutieren.

From 9 to 12 July 2026, the University campus will once again transform into a venue for exhibitions, discussions, and encounters. Students and instructors from all departments will be presenting over 150 projects and research findings from the past academic year during the »summaery2026« annual exhibition. This year’s theme, selected by the Faculty of Media, is: »prompt‽«, a term that alludes to artificial intelligence and can also be understood as a catalyst for new ideas and a starting point for creative processes.

Am 25. und 26. Juni 2026 findet an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar die internationale, englischsprachige Tagung »Archaeologies of the Communist Avant-Gardes: Ephemerality and Leftist Visual Production in Central and Eastern Europe between the World Wars« statt. Die Veranstaltung wird von der Professur Kunst- und Kulturgeschichte der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in Zusammenarbeit mit der Universität Fribourg (Schweiz) organisiert.

The motivation for learning doesn’t always come from a textbook; sometimes a surprising experience, a moment of confusion, or a conversation is enough to trigger something and open up new ways of thinking. »Experiential TURN – Erfahrungsräume für zukunftsfähiges Lernen« (space for experiential learning for a sustainable future) is the theme for the TURN Conference 2026, which will be held on 24 and 25 September 2026 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The Conference will explore the role played by experience when it comes to teaching, learning, and higher education development.

From Monday, 22 June to Sunday 28 June, the Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department, together with other queer initiatives and student organisations, is inviting all University members and interested visitors to a diverse programme focussed on queer themes.

On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the city of Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar are hosting the Thuringian »Tag der Ingenieurwissenschaften (Engineering Day)« together with the »Allianz Thüringer Ingenieurwissenschaften« universities, businesses, research institutions, and political representatives. From 9 am to 6 pm, the event will be highlighting the importance of engineering and STEM disciplines for Thuringia’s economic, technological, and social development. In attendance at the event were Thuringian Minister of Economic Affairs Colette Boos-John and star civil engineer Werner Sobek.

The beauty of quiet stories and invisible connections is often unnoticed in everyday life. Students from BAUHAUS4EU Alliance partner universities, including the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, are working to shed light on these hidden layers. The »BAUHAUS NOVA 2026: Beauty Unseen« exhibition is dedicated to aesthetics and exploring how beauty shapes our shared lives and experiences. The opening event will take place on 12 June in the Oberlichtsaal at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and features discussions with artists.
