Successful completion of the Certificate Course for Road Safety Auditors

On January 13th and 14th, the final attendance phase and thus the completion of the current Certificate Course "Road Safety Audit – Auditors for Rural Roads and Cross-Town Roads" took place at the Chair of Transport System Planning.

The Road Safety Audit is part of the overall road safety work. The aim is to take traffic safety into account as far as possible already during the planning and design of road traffic infrastructure. This should avoid unsafe traffic systems and thus increase traffic safety. When carrying out a safety audit, a trained, certified and independent auditor checks the planning for safety deficiencies and compliance with current guidelines.

The Chair of Transportation System Planning at Bauhaus Universität is one of the few official training centers for safety auditors. Since 2002, more than 200 auditors from all over Germany as well as Austria and Luxembourg have been trained and certified. During the training content on safety-related aspects of highways, rural roads and cross-town links are imparted by expert lectures, as well as applied to practical examples, homework and site visits.

On January 14th, all 10 participants of the training course, which started in June 2019, successfully completed the course and can now officially work as road safety auditors. In terms of content and organization, the course was supervised by the Bauhaus Continuing Education Academy as well as the staff of the Chair of Transportation System Planning, Mr. Wido Hamel and Johannes Vogel.
