Chair of Transport System Planning being invited to Hungary

In the midth of October, the Chair of Transport System Planning in the person of MSc Johannes Vogel accepted an invitation from the partner university in Györ to Hungary. Mr Vogel held two guest lectures on road safety at the Szechenyi Istvan University in Györ on 14th and 15th October, before he gave a lecture on the training of road safety auditors in Germany at the 3rd Hungarian Transport Conference on 16th October.

For many years there have been very good contacts to the Department of Transport at the University of Györ. Among other things, a research project in Thailand and workshops for students ("City & Traffic") have been carried out together in the past. Continuing this tradition and cooperation, the Chair of Transport System Planning in person of Johannes Vogel received an invitation to the 3rd Hungarian Transport Conference in Eger (Hungary), which was partly co-organized by employees of the University in Györ. This was combined with two guest lectures at the Szechenyi Istvan University in Györ.

During the lectures, Mr Vogel first explained how accident data are collected, analysed and used for the development of measures to mitigate accident black spots in Germany as part of the so-called local accident investigation.

In the second lecture, he presented the road safety audit and showed many examples of typical safety deficits found within the framework of safety audits.

In addition to international students from the first and second year of their Master's studies, some Hungarian colleagues from the Department of Transport at the University of Györ also attended the lectures. These were followed by very lively and interesting discussions on the topics discussed, which also made possible an intensive international exchange.

On 16th October Mr Vogel then gave a presentation at the 3rd Hungarian Transport Conference in Eger, which was very well attended with over 500 participants and included English sessions for the first time this year. Mr Vogel explained how the training of road safety auditors is organised and carried out in Germany.

Many thanks again to the colleagues from Györ for the invitation and good organisation and support in Hungary!
