AuCity 2 - Augmented reality in university teaching of civil engineering topics
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are now present in many areas of professional and private everyday life. The advantages should also be researched and made useful for teaching in engineering contexts at universities. In the course of the research project AuCity2 Mixed Reality scenarios for the teaching context are developed, implemented and analysed for applications of structural science and urban water management. Not only the technological and engineering implementation plays a role, but also the evaluation of the potential for the cognitive processing as well as the motivational and emotional influences on the learners.
The potential use of VR / AR in teaching should, above all, generate advantages in the communication of complex spatial or dynamic information and be adapted to the level of performance of the learners. The development environment Unity and the object-oriented programming language C# are used for the development of learning scenarios in structural science.
Interested students are given the opportunity to work on projects or theses on this topic. If you are interested, please contact Ms M.Sc. Fulya Tasliarmut or Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christian Koch for more information.
