Bauhaus.Journal 2013/2014

Once a year, the University publishes the »Bauhaus.Journal«. In its magazine, the University presents exceptional events, topics and personalities of the past and current year. The range of topics represents the University as a whole and places the students as well as their perspectives on various projects centre stage.

You can also pick up a copy at University Communications, located at Amalienstraße 13, on the second  floor, Monday until Thursday, from 9.00 until 11.30 a.m. and 13.30 until 16.00 p.m.

»A Touch of Silicon Valley«

With the construction of the Bauhaus Digital Lab, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has achieved an ultra-modern work environment for students and researchers that dedicate themselves to these tasks.

»More than coffee and foosball«

Marienstraße 18 is the student Mecca of Weimar. The old villa is better known among insiders as the M18. This is where students from all faculties come together to throw parties,  put their ideas into practice and get involved in University life.

»Happy Birthday, Henry!«

In 2013 the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar celebrates one of its most influential minds: Henry van de Velde (1863-1957). Elegant forms, materiality, colour and construction in harmony with each other – Van de Velde's creations still impress students and teachers alike – as three projects commemorating the 150th birthday of the extraordinary artist demonstrate.

»A new Bauhaus Museum - an interview with Heike Hanada«

Architecture study in Berlin, DAAD research scholar in Tokyo, research assistant at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, founder of an agency in Berlin, chair of a department at the University of Applied Sciences Potsdam, mother of two– Heike Hanada's CV speaks for itself. Working with Prof Benedict Tonon, she won the international competition last year for the new construction of the Bauhaus Museum in Weimar. But that is not all that she associates with Weimar.
