From November 18 to December 14, 2025, the Equal Opportunity Office at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar shows the exhibition “Together Against Sexism” in the foyer of the university library.
Sexism exists in many contexts—in everyday life, at work, in public spaces, and in the media. It means discrimination, devaluation, and oppression of people based on their gender and affects power relations, opportunities, and social participation. Yet it is rarely discussed openly.
To raise awareness of the issue and encourage reflection, the Equal Opportunity Office at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is presenting the traveling exhibition “Together Against Sexism” in the foyer of the university library from November 18 to December 14, 2025. The exhibition will be presented simultaneously at all Thuringian universities in cooperation with the Thuringian Competence Network for Equality.
Developed by the alliance “Together Against Sexism” in cooperation with the European Academy for Women in Politics and Business (EAF Berlin), the exhibition vividly conveys basic knowledge, facts and figures about sexism, its manifestations and effects. It invites visitors to reflect on their own behavior and find ways to actively counter sexism. Thematic focal points include everyday sexism, sexism in the workplace, in culture and the media, and in public spaces, as well as its interaction with other forms of discrimination.
The exhibition will be opened on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at 11 a.m. by Prof. Peter Benz, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, and Tina Meinhardt, the university's central equal opportunity officer. Afterwards, all are cordially invited to engage in conversation with each other at a small reception.
