Decolonize Weimar - City Tour March 20

On the day before the International Day Against Racism, the Diversity Department invites you to join the Decolonize Weimar! – city tour.

Racist mindsets served to legitimise colonial oppression, exploitation, and violence. They are still present today in racist discrimination, which affects many people in Weimar every day.
During the city tour, we would like to visit various locations in Weimar and highlight their colonial history. From the Bertuchhaus to Theaterplatz to Herderplatz, we will focus on the actors, institutions, and media that financially and ideologically prepared, supported, and promoted German colonialism in Weimar.

At the same time, German colonial history is still present today in monuments, street names, and buildings in Weimar, but is rarely or never critically remembered in this context.

Date: March 20, 10:00 a.m.
Place: to be announced after regsitration
