Where is the Bauhaus now? Information for Bauhaus-Universität Weimar guests

Due to the regulations imposed in response to the coronavirus pandemic, university buildings are currently closed to the public. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar asks for your understanding and we are offering the opportunity to visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites and the historical Bauhaus in a new way.

Following in the footsteps of the Bauhaus: The Bauhaus Walks

Even with pandemic regulations, we are still able to offer the popular Bauhaus Walks outside. Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students guide visitors through original Bauhaus sites and explain in vivid detail the history and present of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Guests can also take the »Großen Bauhaus-Spaziergang« (long Bauhaus Walk) and visit the Haus Am Horn.

Bauhaus Walks
Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 2 pm. Tickets may be purchased online:

Bauhaus Walks highlights

For those who aren’t able to take part in the walks, Bauhaus Walk guides bring their favourite spots to you in short online films.  They guide you across the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus and take you to the various locations where the Bauhaus was founded in 1919.

All of these highlights can be found at www.uni-weimar.de/bauhausspaziergang

Take the reins and explore campus on your own with the »Where is Walter?« app.

For those interested in exploring the foundation sites of the Bauhaus on their own, we recommend the student-developed app »Where is Walter?«, an interdisciplinary project which includes an hour long walk.  Students collaborated on an interdisciplinary project to create this one-hour audio walk. The app introduces visitors to the historic foundation sites, as well as the history and stories of the Weimar Bauhaus and its founder, Walter Gropius.

Interested in studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar?

The »Digital Orientation« website is a great place for prospective students to learn about the university and the campus. The website provides all relevant information in one spot: application and aptitude test dates, contact information for student advisors, and information on the individual faculties and study programmes.  Since our buildings are currently closed to the public, be sure to check out the short films and photo galleries that provide impressions of our studios, workshops and campus in general and offer a vivid sense of what studying and living in Weimar is like.
