The Bauhaus Walk
Follow in the footsteps of the early Bauhaus as you stroll through these historic sites and experience both the past and present of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar!
The roots of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar lie in the 19th century. Initially an art school, it later took on the character of a modern technical university offering numerous disciplines in the field of building sciences, and is now once again a facility where art and technology come together. Since 1996, the university has borne the name of the renowned 20th-century design school.
Originating from a student initiative, the Bauhaus Walk has now become an extremely successful project and a fixture on Weimar’s cultural calendar. The guides – aspiring architects, civil engineers, cultural studies scholars and artists – share with visitors their perspective on the history of their university and what it means to study and learn at this unique institution with its eventful history, but also to live and celebrate there.

Long Walk

Duration: approx. 2.5 hours
Please note that the route of the Grand Bauhaus Walk through the park on the banks of the Ilm includes uneven surfaces and steps. The walk is not recommended for people with reduced mobility.
