To mark the 20th anniversary of UNESCO World Heritage Day, the 54 World Heritage Sites in Germany invite you to discover and experience them on Sunday, 1 June 2025. Under the slogan »Communicate, Connect, Inspire«, the German UNESCO Commission and the Verein UNESCO-Welterbestätten Deutschland are celebrating the occasion with a broad range of activities. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is also participating. Visitors can explore the World Heritage Sites in Weimar and revisit the early Bauhaus.

Innerhalb des Jahresthemas 2025/2026 der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar wurden unter dem Titel »Beyond Now ⸺ Umwelten« zehn Projekte gefördert, die sich in Forschung und Lehre, Wissenschaft und Kunst mit der Wechselwirkung zwischen Lebewesen und ihren materiellen sowie immateriellen Umwelten beschäftigen.

Was bedeutet Nachhaltigkeit in Forschung und Lehre, in Kunst und Gesellschaft? Unter dem Titel »Was heißt denn hier nachhaltig?« widmete sich der diesjährige Wissenschaftstag an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar am Mittwoch, 21. Mai, genau dieser Frage. In fünf spannenden Vorträgen beleuchteten Wissenschaftler*innen dieses komplexe Themenfeld aus unterschiedlichen fachlichen Perspektiven. Das Publikum war eingeladen, über einen Begriff nachzudenken, der allgegenwärtig scheint – und doch immer wieder neu gedacht werden muss.

What Does Sustainability in Research, Teaching, Art, and Society Mean? This year’s Science Day at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Wednesday, 21 May, was dedicated to this question with their theme »What Does Sustainable Mean Here?«. Scientists shed light on this complex topic from different professional perspectives in five exciting presentations. Visitors were invited to reflect on a seemingly omnipresent concept – and yet one that constantly needs to be rethought.

Der Thüringer Wald ist Mythos, Lebensraum, Erholungsgebiet und Wirtschaftsfaktor – doch was bleibt davon in Zeiten von Klimakrise, Urbanisierung und demografischem Wandel? Welche Zukunftspfade lassen sich in dieser symbolträchtigen Landschaft im einstigen Grünen Herz Deutschlands entwickeln? Das Projekt »Landschaft im Anthropozän: Thüringer Wald – zwischen Imagination, Ressource und Realität« sucht darauf Antworten und zwar ganz konkret in der Region Masserberg.

Das Dehio-Handbuch der Kunstdenkmäler Thüringens ist in den letzten sieben Jahren in einem gemeinsamen Projekt der Thüringer Denkmalfachbehörde, der Dehio-Vereinigung und der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar grundlegend überarbeitet und u. a. um Objekte der Moderne, der DDR-Zeit, der Industriekultur sowie um Parks und Gärten erweitert worden. Das nun zweibändige Handbuch ist soeben gedruckt erschienen und wird am 4. Juni 2025 der Öffentlichkeit vorgestellt.

Im Rahmen des Bauhaus-Moduls »Auf die Schiene kommen« lädt die Professur Entwerfen und Städtebau herzlich zur Eröffnung einer Vortragsreihe ein, die sich mit der nachhaltigen Transformation von Bahnhöfen in den Niederlanden befasst. Den Auftakt macht am Donnerstag, den 22. Mai 2025, um 18.30 Uhr im Bauhaus-Atelier ein Vortrag von Pascal Cornips vom renommierten Architekturbüro Benthem Crouwel Architects aus Amsterdam.

Welche Bedeutung hat ein Name für die eigene Identität? Und wie verändern sich Alltag und Selbstverständnis durch einen diversen Geschlechtseintrag? Diesen Fragen widmet sich der Film »Eintrag: Margit«, der am Donnerstag, 19. Juni 2025, 19 Uhr, in der ACC Galerie Weimar gezeigt wird. Im Anschluss findet ein moderierter Artist Talk mit dem Künstler* Jakob Margit Wirth und dem Filmemacher Vincent Jondeau statt.

In 2025, Climate Alliance - the largest European city network for municipal climate protection - is once again calling on citizens and municipalities to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible within three weeks. The goal is to make a strong statement in favour of mobility, healthy exercise, and active climate protection. The city of Weimar is taking part in »CITY CYCLING« from 24 May to 13 June 2025. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be participating for the fourth time with its own team.

Renowned neuroscientist Wolf Singer will be a guest at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 at 7 pm. With his public lecture on »Oszillationen, Wellen und Interferenzen als Lingua Franca der Großhirnrinde« (oscillations, waves, and interface as the lingua franca of the cerebral cortex), he will be opening his new lecture series »Sonic Talks«, which will focus on focus on rhythm, sound and healing in the 2025 summer semester.

The Lernraum.Bauhaus Symposium and eTeach Annual Conference 2025 are focussing together on the future of teaching and learning, as well as the question of how this can be spatially shaped. The joint event, titled »Spacing – Lernen zwischen Räumen.«, will take place from 24 to 26 September 2025 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Contributions may be submitted until 1 June.
