CITY CYCLING 2025: Cycling Together – Making a Difference Together

In 2025, Climate Alliance - the largest European city network for municipal climate protection - is once again calling on citizens and municipalities to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible within three weeks. The goal is to make a strong statement in favour of mobility, healthy exercise, and active climate protection. The city of Weimar is taking part in »CITY CYCLING« from 24 May to 13 June 2025. The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be participating for the fourth time with its own team.

Brain Versus Computer: Same Principles?

Renowned neuroscientist Wolf Singer will be a guest at the Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar on Tuesday, 27 May 2025 at 7 pm. With his public lecture on »Oszillationen, Wellen und Interferenzen als Lingua Franca der Großhirnrinde« (oscillations, waves, and interface as the lingua franca of the cerebral cortex), he will be opening his new lecture series »Sonic Talks«, which will focus on focus on rhythm, sound and healing in the 2025 summer semester.

Call for Participation: Search for »Spacing – Lernen zwischen Räumen.« Contributions

The Lernraum.Bauhaus Symposium and eTeach Annual Conference 2025 are focussing together on the future of teaching and learning, as well as the question of how this can be spatially shaped. The joint event, titled »Spacing – Lernen zwischen Räumen.«, will take place from 24 to 26 September 2025 at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Contributions may be submitted until 1 June.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will open its doors on Saturday, 24 May 2025 from 9 am to 3 pm for the annual Open Campus Day. What is the right degree programme for me? How can I finance my studies? What can I expect in Weimar and on campus? These questions and others will bye answered by Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Studierendenwerk Thüringen staff in the foyer of the Mensa am Park at Marienstraße 15 starting at 9 am. Guests will be provided with general and subject-specific information on studying.

The lecture is one of the projects funded by the Presidential Board from the »Beyond Now Fund«. Interested parties are cordially invited to the Performance Platform in the Digital Bauhaus Lab.

13 - 15 May Bauhaus Master Lecture, workshop and network meeting with DOUGLAS ROSMAN

As part of an exchange visit and our cooperation with the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, DOUGLAS ROSMAN will visit us on Tuesday, 13 May 2025, 7 p.m., and report on his work as an artist and lecturer in creative coding in a Bauhaus Master Lecture. On Wednesday, 14 May 2025, interested parties can register for the workshop on »Generative Collectivity« offered by Rosman and on Thursday, 15 May 2025, come to the Bauhaus. Atelier for a network meeting.

Performance at the Long Night of Museums: International Art Students Activate Emblematic Sculpture at GfZK Leipzig

Students of the international Master's programme »Public Art and New Artistic Strategies« (PANAS) at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will participate in this year’s 15th Long Night of Museums in Halle & Leipzig. Between 6 p.m. and midnight, they will carry out a six-hour-long intervention inside the sculpture »Formel:Marionette_Leipzig« by artist Suse Weber.

10.5. Die Kunst der Reparatur - Gespräch und Reparatur-Café

Der Studiengang Lehramt an Gymnasien Kunst lädt zur Veranstaltung die »Kunst der Reparatur« ein. Am Samstag, 10. Mai 2025, ist Alexander Wagner zu einem Gespräch zum Thema »Reparieren als Prozessor sozialistischer Bildung« in der Trierer Straße 12 zu Gast. Anschließend haben die Gäste die Gelegenheit, gemeinsam mit der Initiative »Kabel und Faden« Elektrokleingeräte und Textilien zu reparieren. Bringen Sie gern Ihre reparaturbedürftigen Objekte mit.

»Tales of Transformation«: Gemeinsamer Workshop zu städtischen Wandelprozessen in postsowjetischen und postkolonialen Kontexten

Vom 8. bis 9. Mai 2025 findet am Institut für Europäische Urbanistik an der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar ein interdisziplinärer Workshop unter dem Titel »Tales of Transformation: Postsocialist Cities as Laboratories of Change« statt. Organisiert wird die Veranstaltung von Prof. Dr. Cecile Sandten (Professur für Anglistische Literaturwissenschaft, TU Chemnitz) und Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. »The Future of Artificial Intelligence« – Invitation to the Third Event of the »BEYOND NOW ⸺ Questions on the Future of Society« Series on 8 May

The third edition of the event series centres around artificial intelligence (AI). The possibilities offered by artificial intelligence AI seem incredible, even magical. Digitalised aspects of life are developing at lightning speed – AI seems omnipresent and omnipotent. This brings up questions that refer to the fundamental relationship between technology and society and can only be answered from an interdisciplinary perspective, a task that guests will attempt during the event.
