The fifth lecture in the series, published under the title »Auguste Rodins Weimarer Eva«, Prof. Dr. Horst Bredekamp examines the bronze sculpture from a historical perspective. The renowned art historian describes both the creation and the history of the sculpture, as well as the symbolism behind it.

The sixth New Bauhaus Lecture by Christiane Wolf, »›Transportschein für eine Bronzefigur – Empfangsstation Weimar‹ Ein Versuch zu ›Eva gehört uns‹«, can be seen as a complementary lecture. In the lecture, the Modernist Archive director provides insights into »Eva’s« history in Weimar, starting with her arrival at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and both her presence and absence in the foyer, to her restoration and reinstallation.

Both lectures were held during a ceremony in December 2018, marking »Eva’s« return to her rightful home in the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Main Building after having been been deliberately knocked off her pedestal and the subsequent painstaking restoration. About the »Neuen Bauhausvorträge«

The »Neue Bauhausvorträge« publication series has been jointly edited by Prof. Dr. Winfried Speitkamp, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Dr. Frank Simon-Ritz, Director of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar University Library, and Prof. Dr. Hans-Rudolf Meier, Chair of Conservation and History of Architecture since 2017. This series is a continuation of the »Bauhausvorträge« published at the Weimar Bauhaus from 1919 to 1925, a series which dealt with important scientific, social and cultural developments of the time. The chosen publication format is open access within the publication system managed by the University Library, making it easy to access and distribute to all those interested.
