Twelve pianists from the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar will perform the piano pieces on four grand pianos. They will be accompanied by specially created 360° fulldome projections developed by students from various programmes at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as well as by freelance artists. Selected piano pieces by the two composers were visualised individually in a 360° fulldome format. Performance guests can look forward to an impressive immersive listening and viewing experience featuring classical music.
The four pianos will be played by students and staff from the institute of piano and the institute of conducting and opera correpetition at the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar. The Liszt and Gottschalk compositions were arranged by students from Professor Jörn Arnecke’s music theory class specifically for the TROPICALISZT immersive music theatre.
TROPICALISZT is a collaborative project between the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar (led by Micky Remann, Honorary Professor for Immersive Media), and the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar (under the direction of Prof. Dr. Tiago de Oliveira Pinto, UNESCO Chair on Transcultural Music Studies). The cross-university interdisciplinary cooperation builds on past successful joint projects between the University of Music FRANZ LISZT Weimar and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar such as »Visualized Music« (2018) and »Cirque du Bauhaus« (2019).
TROPICALISZT was funded as a Bauhaus.Module in the winter semester 2021/22 and supported by the Alumni Office of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The concerts are being hosted by the FullDome Festival Foundation.
