Invitation to Participate in the Design and Discussion on the »Ideenlabor« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

How do we want to live in the future? How can we make our lives more sustainable, socially just and liveable? The European Union has called for the consideration of just these questions together with attendees of the festival taking place in June as part of its New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative. As an official partner of the NEB, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will host an »Ideenlabor« on Friday, 10 June 2022, and invites all interested parties to come discuss, inspire and experiment.

Prof. Dr. Jutta Emes, the President (interim) of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, explains: »I am delighted that we have been selected to participate in the NEB Festival with our »Ideenlabor« as a partner institution for the EU’s New European Bauhaus Initiative. We warmly invite all students, teachers, researchers and artists as well as all others to come discuss climate issues, sustainable regional development and society together with our international partner institutions.«

The event programme »zooms in« from overarching issues to regional and local initiatives. Some changes are particularly relevant for the university: How can old buildings be preserved and upgraded so that their energy consumption does not burden the climate? What conditions are needed for liveable neighbourhoods? In the university’s Audimax, people committed to the region will discuss with researchers from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and guests such as Dr Gregor Hagedorn, co-founder of Scientists for Future and Academic Director at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin.

There are many ways to participate in the »Ideenlabor«: anyone interested in contributing their opinion on sustainable urban development is able to do so on Theaterplatz during the »Sprachlabor unterwegs« event hosted by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar. Experience how the Bauhaus feels in the »Real.Sense.Lab.«. Give textiles a whole new look during the upcyling workshop at »Studio.Stich« on Schlossplatz.  Discover traces of the historic Bauhaus during guided walks.

All interested parties are invited to participate. The event is free, registration is required: neb[at]uni-weimar.de
