»Bauhaus 100. Focus Female«: Absolventinnen der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar präsentieren künstlerische Positionen im Vorpommerschen Künstlerhaus Heinrichsruh

Fünf Absolventinnen der Fakultät Kunst und Gestaltung präsentieren ab Samstag, 17. August 2019, ihre Werke in der Ausstellung »Bauhaus 100. Focus Female« im Künstlerhaus Heinrichsruh. Zur Vernissage wird Dr. Horst Henrici, Kanzler der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar und direkter Nachfahre von Christoph Ludwig Henrici, dem Erbauer des im 18. Jahrhundert errichteten Herrenhauses, anwesend sein und die Gäste begrüßen.

Ars Electronica 2019: Media Artists Present Their Work at World’s Largest Media Art Festival

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be represented at the renowned »Ars Electronica« Media Arts Festival in Linz from 5 – 9 September 2019. Under the motto »We are not alone!«, the university is presenting a wide range of media art works, including exhibitions, panels, and a showcase. Students, instructors, and alumni are involved and the »Bauhaus100« Centenary acts as an impressive example of how diverse the work and research is and how interdisciplinary the art, design, and technology is at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Von Weimar nach Trier und von Trier nach Weimar

Die Universitätsbibliothek Weimar zeigt im Sommer die Wanderausstellung »Bauhausbücher« an der Universitätsbibliothek in Trier und übernimmt im Herbst selbst eine Ausstellung aus Weimars Partnerstadt an der Mosel. Die Ausstellungseröffnung der bereits seit April in Weimar zu erlebenden Ausstellung findet am 7. August um 18 Uhr in der Universitätsbibliothek Trier statt.

Three Bauhaus Walks Revive the Weimar of the Early 1920s

Media Studies students have designed three historical Bauhaus walks through Weimar which have been published in the form of three city maps. The suggested routes visually and narratively show Weimar as influenced by the Bauhaus style. The individual walks are based on three elaborately illustrated maps of Weimar.

Faculty of Art and Design presents animated explanatory videos for prospective students

»How does an aptitude test work?« and »What’s life like in Weimar?« – these and countless other questions preoccupying prospective students are now answered in a series of six hand-made, animated explanatory videos. The clips are available on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar website, on the university’s Vimeo channel and soon also on various study portals.

»Radiophonic Spaces« is coming to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

Following the successful start of the tour in Basel and Berlin, the »Radiophonic Spaces« radio art exhibition will stop off in Weimar from 26 July to 19 September 2019. The opening ceremony - at 6pm on Friday 26 July 2019 - kicks off the three-day launch event involving performances, concerts, discussions and workshops at the University Library as well as in different locations around Weimar.

Fine Art graduate Kathy Schubert wins Lyonel Art Award

Kathy Schubert was conferred the Lyonel Art Award on Friday, 12 July 2019 during the »summaery2019«, the annual exhibition at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Awarded for the first time, the prize money of €2,000 was donated by Wiegand Manufactur Weimar. In future, the award will be presented once a year.

Annual »summaery«: winners of the 2019 Media Art Award announced

Nina Hopf, Christoph Hertel and Tommy Neuwirth have been awarded this year’s Media Art Awards. On Saturday, 13 July 2019, the students were honoured for their final theses for the Media Art and Design programme during an award ceremony at Gallery Eigenheim in Weimarhallenpark. Three film promotion prizes of the Bauhaus Film Institute and a special mention were also awarded.

Wiegand Manufactur Weimar to sponsor the Lyonel Art Award for graduates within the Fine Arts program at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

The Lyonel Art Award will be awarded for the first time during this year’s summaery 2019 annual year-end exhibition. The purpose of the prize is to promote young artists and it is aimed at students graduating from the Fine Art department. The prize has been made possible by the Wiegand Manufactur Weimar. The winner of the prize will be awarded 2,000 euros as well as a solo exhibition at the NOVA art space in autumn 2019.

»~100«: product design students present theses for summaery2019

Students have around 100 days to prepare their thesis. 100 years have passed since the Bauhaus was founded and the title of this year’s graduate exhibition for the product design course is »~100«. It picks up on the concept of one hundred and offers visitors to the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s annual exhibition between 11 and 14 July 2019 insights into Bachelor and Master projects completed in the past winter semester and current summer semester.

Concrete boats at Schwanseebad: concrete canoe christening and maiden voyage on 19 June

The concrete canoe regatta is just around the corner, and the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is once again taking part – time for a test run! True to the Bauhaus concept of »form follows function«, around 30 students designed and created two unique concrete boats that will be unveiled to the public and set afloat for the first time at the Schwanseebad Weimar pool this Wednesday from 1:30 pm

Robotic Printed Morphologies: Large-scale 3D concrete printer transforms steel structure into temporary sculpture

For the Bauhaus Centenary, those visiting the annual exhibition of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar “summaery2019” from 11 to 14 July 2019 will have the opportunity to experience a unique live robotic installation: Using a novel 3D printing process, a cable-driven robot processes cementitious material into bespoke concrete panels that eventually cover the x.Stahl testbed, a large-scale steel structure, with a temporary shell.

»Bauhaus Orbits« visualises historic Bauhaus discourses

From 3 to 14 July 2019, students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s MediaArchitecture degree programme will be presenting their work as part of the Bauhaus Orbits installation in the foyer of the University Library, bringing historic Bauhaus discourse to life using contemporary resources.

»GIVE ME A B« – Bauhaus-Universität Weimar invites you to the »summaery2019« annual show

What does the heritage of Bauhaus mean to individuals and to society as a whole? What impact do Bauhaus’s ideas have today? These and other questions will be tackled by the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar as part of its »summaery2019« annual exhibition from 11 to 14 July 2019. Exhibition openings, performances, lectures, presentations – students and teachers will also be introducing their own discourses, artworks, activities and research projects for the anniversary year. Visitors will receive unique insight behind the scenes of creative and research activities at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.

Bauhaus Summer School 2019 – Ein Sommer voller Vielfalt im Bauhaus-Jahr

Über 400 Studierende aus aller Welt werden im August den Campus der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar beleben und ihren Wissensdurst in den mehr als zehn Fach- und Sprachkursen der Bauhaus Summer School stillen. Passend zum Bauhausjahr ist ein Programm voller Workshops zur historischen Kunstlehre und Exkursionen zu historischen und modernen Bauhaus-Orten geplant.

Umweltfreundliche Wohnquartiere – BMBF fördert Verbundprojekt »smood« mit 1,1 Millionen Euro

Am vergangenen Mittwoch, den 19. Juni 2019, fiel der Startschuss zum Beginn der Initiative »smood – smart neighborhood« im Klimapavillon in Jena. Der Verbund aus siebzehn Unternehmen, vier Forschungseinrichtungen und einem Verein in der Region Zentral-Thüringen will zukünftig die energetische Sanierung von Quartieren zu lebenswerten, effizienten und umweltfreundlichen Wohngegenden planen und umsetzen. Das Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung (BMBF) fördert die Initiative, der auch die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar angehört, mit insgesamt 1,1 Millionen Euro.

Am 26. Juni 2019 findet an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar erstmalig die Digitalisierungstagung »Digikon« statt.

Digitalisierung.Lehre.Zukunft: Thüringer Digitalisierungskonferenz am 26. Juni 2019 an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar

Am 26. Juni 2019 findet an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar erstmalig eine Digitalisierungstagung zu innovativen Lehr- und Lernformaten statt. Die eintägige Veranstaltung soll Raum für Verständigung, Austausch und Vernetzung zwischen den Thüringer Hochschulen bieten. Ziel ist es, Ideen für neue Projekte in der eigenen Organisation zu entwickeln und Partner für gemeinsame Vorhaben zu finden. Neben einem Tagungsprogramm mit Vorträgen, Podiumsdebatten und einer »Best-Practice-Rallye« steht Zeit zum Reflektieren des eigenen digitalen Handelns sowie zum Austausch mit Kolleginnen und Kollegen zur Verfügung. Eine Anmeldung ist noch bis zum 21. Juni 2019 online möglich.
