Guest lecture: Building Information Modelling in infrastructure construction
On 13 January 2025, we had the honour of welcoming Daniel Oehler from Dr. Born – Dr. Ermel GmbH as part of the Bachelor's degree course in Management [Construction, Real Estate, Infrastructure].
The lecture focused on the practical use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the industry, especially in the field of infrastructure construction. In addition to exciting insights into current projects and challenges, the role of BIM in collaborative project planning and task distribution was emphasised in particular.
A special highlight was the live demo with VR glasses, in which the students were shown the possibilities of collaborative working in a virtual environment. Here they were able to experience how tasks can be efficiently distributed to different project participants and how VR can be used as a tool to support planning and communication.
We would like to thank Mr. Oehler and Born Ermel Ingenieure for this inspiring presentation and interactive demonstration!
