2022 Summer Semester In-Person: Which Rules Apply Now?

The majority of teaching events will take place in-person again in the 2022 summer semester. In order for the semester to be as safe and successful as possible, a basic set of rules must be followed. Below is a summary of the infection prevention measures that must be observed when students, instructors and employees return to seminar rooms, lecture halls, workshops, labs and workrooms on 1 April.

3G Rule Replaced with »AHA+L« (distancing, hygiene, mask + ventilation)

Access to university buildings and classes will no longer require proof of 3G. This means that student teams will no longer be carrying out compliance checks for proof of vaccination, test or recovery before or during courses.

This means, however, that it is even more important to observe the AHA+L (distancing, hygiene, mask + ventilation) rules. Be sure to maintain a 1.5 metre distance from others whenever possible. Seating plans and work stations in university rooms have been adapted so that this distancing can be observed as far as possible. If, for instance, a lecture hall is at more than 50% occupancy or distancing cannot be observed at a workstation, medical or FFP2 masks must be worn. Masks must be worn in all foot traffic areas of the university, including corridors, stairways, washrooms, etc.

In order to prevent the airborne spread of viruses, rooms must be aired out or ventilated regularly. The best way to properly ventilate a room is to open opposing windows or doors. Simple hygiene measures, such as proper hand washing and disinfection, also help prevent the spread of infection.

Take Advantage of Testing Opportunities

Even though access restriction have been lifted and proof of testing or other forms of 3G compliance are no longer required, we ask that you continue using the available testing facilities. Coronavirus infections may be asymptomatic and go unnoticed; through regular testing, these cases can also be detected and transmission of the virus can be prevented.

The rapid test centre on the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus (access via Belvederer Allee 4) will remain open from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 12 pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday, 10 am to 2 pm. The opening hours of all other test centres in Weimar can be found on the city of Weimar website.

Buildings Open Again

As the summer semester begins, all Bauhaus-Universität Weimar buildings will be freely accessible again. Students, instructors, staff and external guests will be allowed to enter the buildings again. In order to manage public foot traffic, especially in the Main Building and the van de Velde Building, which are popular with guests, these buildings will only be publicly accessible through the main entrance Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. Student assistants will also be stationed in the foyer of the Main Building to provide information on the applicable rules.

Together again — under this slogan, we look forward to welcoming you, along with all of the encounters (expected and unexpected!) on campus again.
