Email from the presidium on the start of the semester: Welcome to the 2021/2022 Winter Semester

Dear students, dear staff,

Welcome to the start of the 2021/2022 winter semester, and an especially warm welcome for the return to being on-campus! This semester, we are meeting again in-person on campus, in lecture halls, seminar rooms, workshops and labs. We are looking forward to welcoming both new faces and familiar faces once again. Those who first came to Weimar during the pandemic now have the chance to get acquainted with the university all over again in a completely new way.

We have prepared a video greeting to welcome all of our first-semester students here.

In returning to in-person events, there are a few essential rules that must be observed: In addition to regulations such as social distancing, mask-wearing and proper room ventilation, the 3G rule (vaccinated, recovered, tested) is especially important in ensuring that in-person events are safe for everyone. We all need to be considerate of each other and support one another as best we can. In doing this, we can all have a safe and enjoyable semester together.

Once the 3G rule has been successfully implemented in in-person teaching events, the rule will apply to all other events held at the university, such as committee meetings or events with external guests starting on 1 November 2021 in a decision passed by the Board of Governance.

If you have any questions about the university’s coronavirus regulations, visit: www.uni-weimar.de/coronavirus where you will find a comprehensive, regularly updated list of questions. In the section »FAQs for Everyone«, you will find the most important rules at the university and for everyday life, as well as information on vaccination and testing possibilities. Under »FAQs for Students«, you will find relevant information on semester organisation, exams, important services and counselling. In the »FAQs for Employees« section, you will find information on working under pandemic conditions (on campus and from home) and the specific legal requirements.

We have also added a new section to our website for instructors and staff members: The www.uni-weimar.de/de/universitaet/lehre/ site is a new virtual contact point for lecturers and staff at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. It contains relevant information on all aspects of teaching and studying. You will also find offers, materials and a list of important dates to help with planning and conducting courses

We wish you all the best for a successful 2021/2022 winter semester filled with exciting and inspiring personal encounters.

Sincerely,
On behalf of the Board of Governance,

Prof. Dr. Winfried Speitkamp President
