The following programme is in store for you this autumn on the occasion of the Bauhaus Centenary 2019

»Erfurt/Haifa. Architecture of the Modern Age in Dialogue.«

The photography exhibition in the foyer of the Weimarhalle, »Erfurt/Haifa. Architecture of the Modern Age in Dialogue«, starting on 25 September 2019, will present research on the architectural history of the modern age. In doing so, the relationship between Erfurt (the state capital of Thuringia) and the Israeli seaport of Haifa as twin cities and intersections of a new building style and philosophy during the 1930s, will be expounded upon. Modern architecture, which ended abruptly in Erfurt as a result of the rise of National Socialism, experienced radical changes in Israel where it symbolises a new home for displaced people. The exhibition contrasts the similarities and differences of the two cities through dialogical documentaries, multimedia and architectural photography.

Opening: Wednesday, 25 September 2019 at 6 pm in the foyer of the Weimarhalle, UNESCO-Platz 1, 99423 Weimar

Workshops and lectures with 300 participating experts try to determine what contemporary education looks like and what responsibilities architects, artists and designers bear in relation to the field of education. Among the lecturers will be the sociologist Hartmut Rosa (Jena), philosopher Wolfgang Welsch and art didactics expert Kunibert Bering (Düsseldorf).

Conference: Thursday, 27 to 29 September 2019, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Main Building and Audimax, Geschwister-Scholl-Str. 8, 99423 Weimar

The focus will be on the »Liebling Haus« in the White City Centre of the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, which is considered the precedent of the »White City«. The exhibition will combine film and archive studies, material analyses and digital architectural surveys in a comprehensive data platform, thus presenting architecture as a document of historical and political relations.
