Recap: summaery2026 in Photos
From 9 to 12 July 2026, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s annual exhibition took place. Nearly 5,000 visitors flocked to the campus to explore over 150 projects from all the faculties. Visitors were invited to explore exhibitions at more than 40 venues. The event focussed on students and their theses and semester projects. A highlight was Thursday’s opening ceremony, featuring a diverse lineup and a DJ set from the balcony of the Main Building.
It’s wonderful to see the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar campus transform into a lively stage every year. Installations seem to pop out of nowhere in just a few hours. There’s hammering, painting, spraying, and chatting. An old trade show booth is repurposed into a stage, music blares from the speakers, and the atmosphere is exhilarating. As the semester ends, the summer begins. Or at least there’s a break from classes, which means more time for personal encounters and slowing down. This mix of pride, easing tension, and anticipation for carefree summer days is truly palpable at summaery. This also rings true for the numerous guests who »just want to see what their alma mater is up to«, or who »want to learn about the scientific discoveries taking place at the University«, or who »are curious about student workspaces and the art produced and exhibited there«. And what about the finances at the University? Still an issue, yes. But one that has been pushed to the background for a minute.
