Starting a Career After a Ph.D.: Bauhaus Research School Invites You to »Career Day 2026«
The Bauhaus Research School is hosting a digital Career Day with the theme »all directions« on 25 June 2026: Doctoral candidates, postdocs, artists, and those interested in pursuing a doctoral degree are invited to explore where their doctoral degree can take them – within or outside of academia, or right at the intersection!
Career Day centres around alumni talks with graduates from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar: Till-Ansgar Baumgart, Miriam Hamel, Antonia Herten and Laura Weitze will be offering insights into the very different paths they took to becoming professors. Franziska Weise, Ricarda Löser, Bianka Trötschel-Daniels, and Franziska Winter will be sharing the unexpected turns their careers paths took after academia.
Ute Mai, Director of the Bauhaus Research School, is looking forward to reuniting with »her« alumni: »We are curious about what, in retrospect, was important to you during your time as a doctoral candidate at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar? What have your experiences been like since then? How do you successfully transition, and what influences your career decisions?«
Alumni-Discussions will be accompanied by an expert talk on career paths leading to a professorship at a university of applied sciences. The talk will be led by Katja Czech from the Hochschule Anhalt University of Applied Sciences and Franziska Weise (FH Erfurt) and will be followed by a Q&A session on applying for professorship positions and short self-reflection exercises. It is also possible to join individual events.
