»Digital Orientation« – information on studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar
The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has created a brand-new digital contact point for all prospective students: the »Digital Orientation« website now provides comprehensive information on studying and living in Weimar, and helps prospective students to decide on a degree programme. A digital Open Campus Day (HIT) will also take place on 4 July 2020.
The »Digital Orientation« website brings together all relevant information: the dates of upcoming application deadlines and aptitude tests, contact details for student advising and information on the individual faculties and study programmes. While it is not possible to visit the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar in person at the moment, short films and photo galleries allow prospective students to go on virtual tours of the campus, studios and workshops, and provide a lively impression of life and studies in Weimar without actually being there. Want to know more about everyday life at the university? Contact a »Bauhaus.Ambassador«! »Bauhaus.Ambassadors« are student experts in their own degree programme and they’re happy to help you make the right choice and to share their own experiences and about what’s special about studying at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
A one-on-one phone chat is an important part of the the study orientation: »It was extremely quiet in the first few weeks after the lockdown was lifted, but I am now noticing that especially Abitur students are once again increasingly contacting me to find out how they can now continue their studies«, reports student advisor Christian Eckert. »Once it became clear that the Abitur exams would take place and everyone would be able to graduate in 2020, there were a great many queries about the application procedure and deadlines«. In order to enable all prospective students to begin their studies in the winter semester 2020/21, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar intentionally set longer application periods. In addition, the admission restrictions for five Bachelor degree programmes were lifted this year: up until 30 September 2020, it is possible to enrol for the degree programmes in Civil Engineering, Management (construction, real estate and infrastructure), Environmental Engineering, Computer Science, and Media Studies without completing an aptitude test.
An online open campus day is being offered for prospective students in addition to the other information offers. It will take place from 10 am until 3 pm on 4 July, after being postponed in March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus. In addition to presentations on the degree programmes offered and student life in Weimar, prospective students will be able to ask general study questions in chats with representatives from General Academic Advising and the departmental academic advisors as well as current students. The full programme will be available online from mid-June: www.uni-weimar.de/hit
