»Campus Pride Week« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Celebrates Its 5th Anniversary
From Monday, 22 June to Sunday 28 June, the Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department, together with other queer initiatives and student organisations, is inviting all University members and interested visitors to a diverse programme focussed on queer themes.
»Campus Pride Week« will also be celebrating its 5th anniversary this year. Since 2022, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been holding this week-long event in parallel with »Christopher Street Day (CSD) Weimar« and the Dyke* March Weimar, thus sending a clear message in support of diversity, openness, and solidarity with queer communities.
To kick off »Campus Pride Week«, an Intersex-Inclusive Pride Progress flag will be displayed on the Main Building’s central balcony. The flag symbolises the diversity of gender identities and sexual orientations, making the university’s position of solidarity visible.
Prof. Peter Benz, President of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar explains: »Five years of Campus Pride Week – this is no easy feat, but it is a commitment that we reaffirm every year. Especially in light of current queerphobic, anti-feminist, and anti-democratic attacks, taking a stand isn’t optional. It’s our duty. Queer people and feminist perspectives are a part of this university – and that will remain the case.«
The 2026 Campus Pride Week programme includes:
Monday, 22 June 2026 | 7 pm | Bauhaus.Atelier
Reading: »Sperrgut« with author Sophia Merwald
In cooperation with Dyke* March Weimar
In her début novel, Sophia Merwald tells the story of »Lusthansa«, a hand-crafted sanctuary where, over several generations, an unusual chosen family has formed around paprika soup, »Astro-TV«, and a life of solidarity. Using language that is at once surreal, poetic, and precise, Merwald recounts this community’s struggle against the impending demolition of their home.
Tuesday, 23 June 2026 | 4:30 to 6 pm | Bauhaus.Atelier
»Queer.Bauhaus« — Open meeting for queer staff members
As part of Campus Pride Week 2026, we warmly invite you to the next »Queer.Bauhaus« meeting. These meetings provide a space for exchange, networking, and discussion between queer staff members at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
Wednesday, 24 June 2026 | 4:30 to 6 pm | Meeting Point: Friedrich-Ebert-Straße 61
Queer City Walk through Weimar
In cooperation with Dyke* March Weimar
A rainbow family in the time of Goethe, a meeting place for queer people during the Weimar Republic, queer activists operating under the roof of the church during the GDR − did any of this really happen? Join us as we delve into Weimar’s known and lesser-known queer history! We bring this history to life during our City Walk.

Outdoor Cinema: »Pillion« (original with subtitles)
In cooperation with the CSD Weimar and the Dyke* March Weimar
This summer’s must-see comedy: When shy Colin meets charismatic biker Ray, he promptly swaps his old life for domestic chores, bedside-rug romance, and a BDSM relationship full of wild adventures. But amidst obedience, leather jackets, and sexual ecstasy, the question eventually arises as to whether Colin might be seeking more than just the next command in Ray’s strictly ruled world.
Friday, 26 June 2026 | 5 to 8 pm | Location TBA
»Schoethe-Fanclub«
Organised by the »QueerYMR« StuKo (Student Government) committee
The relationship between Goethe and Schiller − were they more than just friends? And why is shipping the relationship between these two poets today still so popular? The »QueerYMR« StuKo (Student Government) committee invites all Schiller-Goethe fans to »Schoethe-Fanclub«.
Saturday, 27 June 2026 | noon | M18 — Haus der Studierenden
Attend CSD Together
Organised by the »QueerYMR« StuKo (Student Government) committee

Sunday, 28 June 2026 | 11 am (tour through the memorial) / 1:30 pm (commemoration ceremony) | Buchenwald Memorial
Commemoration event for the »pink triangle prisoners« of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps
On the Sunday following CSD Weimar, the annual ceremony commemorating the »pink triangle prisoners« of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau-Dora concentration camps will take place. The Equal Opportunity Office and the Diversity Department will once again be taking part in the ceremony and laying a wreath at the memorial stone for gay men imprisoned and murdered at Buchenwald. We invite all students, doctoral candidates, and Bauhaus-Universität Weimar staff to join us in commemorating the gay and queer victims of National Socialism.
