Studierende der Fakultät Architektur und Urbanistik zeigen im Hauptgebäude, in den Kuben, im green:house und im D-LAB die Ergebnisse aus ihren Entwurfs-, Forschungs- und Lehrprojekten des Wintersemesters 2025/26.

From 12 to 15 February 2026, the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar will be opening its doors for their »go4spring« semester exhibition. Students will share insights into their work from the 2025/26 winter semester.

How can public cultural programming connect with young people, get them involved, and make them more visible? Students from the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the University of Erfurt tackled this question as part of a collaboration with ARD Kultur and the TeleVisionale Film and Media Festival. Their findings were presented during the festival, which was held for the first in Weimar from 1 to 5 December 2025, and expressed clear recommendations for cultural programming.

Snow-covered mountains, a whiteboard in front of an icy blue lake, delicious-looking gingerbread cookies, and a festively decorated Christmas tree: A seemingly normal lecture from the »Virtual Reality and Visualization« professorship was relocated to an extraordinary setting before Christmas. Rather than meeting in the lecture hall, students and instructors gathered together in a specially designed digital winter wonderland to learn, discuss, and experiment together. The »3D Interaction Techniques: Manipulation« event took place entirely over virtual reality.

Der Masterstudiengang »Bauingenieurwesen - Konstruktiver Ingenieurbau« der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar schneidet im aktuellen Hochschulranking des ZEIT Verlags überdurchschnittlich gut ab und überzeugt in zahlreichen Kategorien. Besonders positiv bewertet wurde die Betreuung, Studienorganisation und digitale Lehre sowie eine starke Forschungsanbindung. Mehr als 8.000 Masterstudierende aus ganz Deutschland wurden im Rahmen der Erhebung befragt. Im Fokus standen dabei u. a. die Fächer Bau- und Umweltingenieurwesen, Elektrotechnik, Maschinenbau und Material- und Werkstofftechnik.

Following several years of extensive refurbishment and modernisation, the university building at Coudraystraße 7 has been fully reoccupied since early December 2025. With the completion of the first construction phase, the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Bauhaus-Universität Weimar now has a state-of-the-art location offering laboratory, seminar and office spaces for several professorships. Work on the ground floor – including seminar rooms, computer pools and specialised laboratory areas – is still ongoing. Completion is scheduled for spring 2026.

Wie entsteht eigentlich ein Radioprogramm, das täglich hunderttausende Menschen erreicht? Welche Rolle spielen digitale Geschäftsmodelle in regionalen Medienhäusern? Und wie verändert künstliche Intelligenz die journalistische Arbeit? Antworten auf diese Fragen erhielten rund 25 Studierende der Studiengänge Medienmanagement, Medienkultur und Europäische Medienkultur beim Besuch des Rundfunksenders Antenne Thüringen. Die Exkursion bildete im Wintersemester 2025/26 den Auftakt zu einer Reihe praxisnaher Unternehmenseinblicke im Fachbereich Medienmanagement. Gemeinsam mit Prof. Dr. Reinhard Kunz, Sebastian Cramer und Paul Muschiol gewinnen die Studierenden ein genaues Verständnis dafür, wie Thüringer Medienunternehmen heute arbeiten.

Am 22. November 2025 wurde das Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium zum Schauplatz eines festlichen Abschieds: Rund 170 Absolvent*innen, Lehrende und Gäste kamen zusammen, um den erfolgreichen Abschluss eines prägenden Lebensabschnitts zu würdigen.

Seit 1994 beteiligt sich die Bauhaus-Universität Weimar mit selbst gebauten Booten aus Beton erfolgreich am bundesweiten Wettbewerb der Deutschen Zement- und Betonindustrie. Die nächste Regatta findet vom 19. bis 20. Juni in Brandenburg an der Havel statt. Gesucht werden Bootsbau-Begeisterte, kreative Köpfe, handwerklich geschickte, sportlich ambitionierte Studierende, die Lust haben dabei zu sein. Am 5. November 2025 findet 17.15 Uhr eine Informationsveranstaltung in der Coudraystraße 11C, Raum 001 statt.

On Saturday, 25 October 2025, everyone gathered in the Maurice Halbwachs Auditorium to celebrate, applaud and say goodbye to a period of study full of projects, challenges and unforgettable moments. Prof. Tom Lahmer, Dean of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, hosted the event and encouraged the 224 graduates to break new ground and trust in their own abilities. Inspiring speeches by alumna Ni Michelle Ying and Master's graduate Jinyue Chi, live music by Johanna Phillip and Tim Ahlfeld, and many personal encounters made the ceremony a special highlight of the year. Senior Professor Hans-Joachim Bargstädt honoured two graduates with the Erhard Hampe Young Talent Award from the Association of Friends of Civil Engineering and Building Materials Engineering (vfbb) for their outstanding theses.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar welcomed new students on 15 October 2025 at the official Matriculation Ceremony in the Maurice-Halbwachs-Auditorium.

Produktdesign (Product Design) graduate Louise Richter has been awarded prizes in two categories for her piece of furniture for the final stages of life, »BeiStand«. Her piece impressed judges in both the Expert« and the »Consumer« categories. With »BeiStand«, Richter recognised a field that receives little attention: the side table in palliative care settings.

Über 300 Kinder begeistert vom Bauingenieurwesen: Im Rahmen der Kinderuniversität Weimar boten Larissa Daube, das Erdbebenzentrum und die Professur Baubetrieb und Bauverfahren am 24. September 2025 spannende Einblicke in ihre jeweiligen Forschungsfelder an der Fakultät Bau-und Umweltingenieurwissenschaften. Der Andrang war so groß, dass zwei Zusatzveranstaltungen für Schulklassen zum Therma Erdbebensicherheit und Baurobotik im Oktober angeboten werden.

Wie wirkt sich Krieg auf das Wohnen aus und was können wir durch den Blickwinkel des Wohnens über Krieg lernen? Die Veranstaltungsreihe diskutiert politische, ökonomische, bauliche und soziale Dimensionen der Wohnungsversorgung in Zeiten drohender Kriege, andauernder bewaffneter Konflikte sowie Nachkriegsperioden.

The BAUHAUS4EU (B4EU) University Alliance has published their first programme of events: Courses are now open to members of all ten partner universities, including the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The course catalogue includes lectures for students as well as workshops, staff weeks, and training sessions for administrative and technical staff, instructors, and researchers, providing opportunities for further education and networking with European colleagues.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar Matriculation Ceremony welcomes new students in the upcoming 2025/2026 winter semester. The start of the new semester marks not only the return of already-enrolled students back to campus, but also the beginning of an exciting new phase for many first-year students.

Vom 22. September bis 1. Oktober 2025 findet das achte Science Camp für Thüringer Ingenieurstudierende an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar statt. Im Fokus der hochschulübergreifenden Lernreihe stehen dieses Mal akustische Signale, die von schwingenden Baustrukturen ausgehen. Ziel ist es, Hands-On-Erfahrungen mit Bauwerkserschütterungen und insbesondere Erdbeben zu sammeln und sich mit Studierenden und Industriepartnern zu vernetzen.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is participating in this year's Campus Exhibition at Ars Electronica 2025 in Linz with several contributions. In keeping with the festival motto »Panic«, students and faculty from the departments of Art and Design as well as Architecture and Urbanism are presenting artistic works that critically examine digital technologies, ecological contexts, and social issues.

This year, the Herder Prize, which is endowed with 2,000 euros, is being conferred to students from the teacher training programme in Fine Art Education (Secondary School) (»Lehramt an Gymnasien Kunst«). In the programme’s introductory project entitled »Almost Perfect« (Fast Perfekt), the prospective teachers explored the topic of »Perfection«. The prize acknowledges artistically sophisticated and innovative work offering contemporary interpretations of Johann Gottfried Herder’s ideas, which addresses social challenges and proposes creative long-term solutions.

A short TikTok clip, a provoking comment below the Instagram post – shared and liked thousands of times. This is then followed by a flood of support, outrage, and hatred: Radical anti-feminist and queerphobic voices are becoming dominant in social media discourse. Algorithms, filter bubbles, and targeted campaigns reinforce these tendencies and influence political attitudes. But how do we fight hate and hate speech on social media platforms? From 2 to 7 September, the »Künstlerisch forschende Strategien zur De-Radikalisierung auf Social Media« block seminar invites students to explore digital networks and develop creative counter-strategies to online hate. The results will be presented as part of the finissage of the Kunstfest Weimar.
