A wonderful and exhilarating summaery2024 with over 160 projects lies behind us. More than 5,000 visitors took the chance to get to know our university, explore the current projects, ideas and work of students and teaching staff and celebrate the end of the academic year with us. Our photographers Dominique Wollniok, Thomas Müller and Matthias Eckert were out and about documenting exhibitions, events and the atmosphere on site. Have fun looking back!

Freie Kunst graduate Maria Fabricius-Wendt was awarded the »Lyonel Kunstpreis 2024« on Friday, 12 July 2024. The award, which honours the final projects of up-and-coming talent in the Faculty of Art and Design and comes with a 2,000 euro prize, has conferred by »Lyonel – Verein zur Förderung von Kunst, Gestaltung und Kultur (Lyonel e.V.)« since 2019.

The online gallery »Traces of REcreation« shows 16 bachelor's and master's theses from the product design programme that were created in the winter semester 2023/24 and summer semester 2024. The graduates have worked individually or in teams on current and relevant topics such as mobility, material design, industrial design and social and critical design. The works can also be visited on site in Weimar from 11 to 14 July 2024 for summaery2024, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar's annual exhibition.

Von Donnerstag, 11. Juli bis Sonntag, 21. Juli 2024, ist die immersive Soundinstallation »of gust and moist« im Leipziger Zentrum für Immersive Medienkunst, Musik und Technologie zu sehen. In der Ausstellung treten die zwei Installationen »Whiskers in Space« und »Pluvial« in Dialog, die sich mit der Vermessung und Wahrnehmung von natürlichen Phänomenen und der Selbst-Positionierung und dem Ort von uns Menschen innerhalb dieses Beziehungsgefüges beschäftigen.

For this year's annual exhibition, students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar often present their projects in unusual locations away from the campus. In addition to the art and design exhibition spaces in the historic Van de Velde ensemble and Marienstraße, summaery2024 will also feature completely new venues. This year, for example, passers-by can experience textile art at the train station in Apolda or immerse themselves in democracy campaigns in the Weimar shopping mall »Atrium«.

At the »summaery2024« annual exhibition from 11 to 14 July 2024, the university's students and lecturers will present their ideas and discourses on this year's motto »PLAN B«, which was developed under the leadership of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, at numerous locations on campus as well as in and outside the city.

The Lyonel Kunstpreis 2024 will be awarded on Friday, 12 July 2024. The nominees are Fine Art diploma graduates Maria Fabricius-Wendt, Till Röttjer, Simon Surjasentana and Rio Usui. Interested parties are cordially invited to the exhibition opening at 5 p.m. and to the awards ceremony at 6 p.m. at Berkaer Straße 11.

On Monday, 17 June 2024, Elfi Handina Murandu was awarded one of three prizes for young book design by the Stiftung Buchkunst for her bachelor's thesis »A Book about Hair«. The publication includes 30 perspectives from Black and biracial individuals, and examines questions of belonging, adapting and representation, among others. The book is a collection of actions and behaviours from various Black realities.

The Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is once again celebrating success at the annual ADC Talent Awards. Students from the Faculty of Art and Design impressed with their achievements and were honoured with numerous ADC nails in gold, silver and bronze.

We are pleased to welcome Martina Huynh and Jonas Althaus from »Cream on Chrome« to their lecture »Tangible Imaginaires«, starting on Thursday, 20 June 2024, 7 p.m., as part of the Lecture Series »Bauhaus Design Positions«.
