With the newly released publication »BOOM!«, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar’s University Gallery »nova space« looks back on seven years of exhibition practice. At the same time, readers can expect a surprise: an exhibition in a book. The project will be presented for the first time at an exhibition opening and book release on Tuesday, 14 April 2026, at 6 p.m.

An art festival titled »!RRATIONALE« will take place on the campus of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar 8 to 12 June 2026. We’re looking for performances, actions, interventions, parties, screenings, and other crazy formats that are aesthetically impactful and will take place on or near campus. Ideas can be submitted by Monday, 6 April 2026.

Der Lyonel e.V. lädt am Freitag, 27. März 2026, um 18.30 Uhr ins Bauhaus.Atelier in Weimar ein, um die Publikation »Lyonel Kunstpreis 2019–2025« vorzustellen. Die Veranstaltung beleuchtet die Entwicklung des Kunstpreises und bietet im Anschluss einen Artist Talk, bei dem geförderte Künstler*innen ihre Arbeiten präsentieren. Alle Interessierten sind herzlich willkommen!

Leila Keivan, graduate of the »Public Art and New Artistic Strategies« degree programme in the Faculty of Art and Design, has been awarded the Thuringian State Scholarship for Fine Art. The scholarship, worth 10,000 euros, will allow her to carry out an artistic research project on home, memory, and belonging.

Das Format »5 Fragen« startet in die nächste Runde: Bis zum 15. März können wieder alle Universitätsangehörigen ihre Fragen an Uni-Präsident Prof. Peter Benz richten und erhalten ab Anfang April darauf seine ganz persönlichen Antworten.

Interdisziplinär lehren, einen grünen Campus gestalten oder Leerstand im ländlichen Raum neu denken: Die BAUHAUS4EU Allianz startet drei Open Calls für neue internationale Lehrformate. Gesucht werden Beiträge für European BAUHAUS Courses, studentisch geleitete Kurse (Student-led Courses) und Regionallabore (Regional Living Labs). Alle Formate stehen der Universitätsgemeinschaft der zehn Partneruniversitäten offen und sollen die internationale Vernetzung in Studium und Lehre weiter stärken.

Marie Kurstjens has won the 2026 German Design Award in the »Newcomer of the Year« category. The award is accompanied with 15,000 euros in prize money. The jury commended her understanding of design as a collaborative process for solving social and humanitarian challenges. She received the award for her Bachelor's thesis »COOK/ABILITY« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and her Master's thesis »Designing Dignity« at the Universität der Künste Berlin.

Im Rahmen der der Lehrwoche im PhD-Programm Art & Design finden vom 23. bis 27. Februar 2026 an der Fakultät Kunst und Gestaltung mehrere öffentliche Vorträge zu künstlerischer Forschung statt. Interessierte sind herzlich eingeladen.
